The Akufo-Addo government is reaping the fruits of vigilantism which it sowed while in opposition.
"When you sow the wind, you reap a whirlwind!",” Mr Mahama tweeted, adding: “Political ‘vigilantism’ is spiralling out of control and government doesn’t appear to be able to deal with the situation.”
“And the tragedy is that most of our moral society have become passive spectators,” Mr Mahama added.
There have been about 20 pro-NPP vigilante attacks since the NPP won power in the December 2016 elections.
The situation has been festering despite calls on the president for the law enforcement agencies to act.
