The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rt Rev Christopher Nyarko Andam, has condemned the shooting incident that happened at the Ashanti Regional head office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday, 18 February 2019.
The incident claimed one life and injured another critically. The survivor is receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The police have since declared four persons alleged to be members of pro-NDC vigilante group, The Hawks, wanted.
The suspects, according to the police, are Warrior, Damous, Migyima and Abu Tariban.
Speaking on the Kumasi Morning Show on Kumasi 104.1FM on Tuesday, 19 February 2019, Rt Rev Andam described the incident as unfortunate and called for an end to violence.
He told show host Akwesi Agudey that the much-touted peace the nation enjoys is in peril.
He called on all stakeholders to join hands to fight political vigilantism so as to preserve the peace of the nation.
Rt Rev Andam urged the various political parties to hire the services of the police during their functions instead of using vigilantes as security forces.
