Fijai (W/R), March 5, GNA 97 Dr.Paa Kwasi Nduom, the Convention Peopl= e's Party (CPP), Presidential candidate for the 2008 general elections, on Saturday said the Single Spine Pay Policy was his idea presented to the erstwhile New Patriotic Party administration when serving as the Minister o= f Public Sector Reforms.

He said although the policy is good, the ruling government had failed in its implementation and asked the government to apologize to Ghanaians. Dr. Nduom made this known at Fijai, during a meeting with CPP constituency executives, in the 22 constituencies of the Western Region. He noted that, the pay policy's core principle is equal pay for equa= l work value and that the government had failed to listen to advice when it started implementing the policy.

The former CPP presidential candidate stressed that, the Fair Wages an= d Salary Commission should have done due analysis and corrected all the error= s before migrating public servants to the system.

"Salary of public servants is very significant and any reforms in salary structure requires due diligence in implementation, to avoid public outcry", he noted.

Dr. Nduom said the pay policy, which should have resolved disparities and inequities in salaries of civil servants had rather brought even more disparities, saying the inequality occurred in the security services' salaries and now it is happening in the teachers' salaries. The Western Regional Chairman of the CPP, Mr. Samuel Gordon Etroo said the party would put in place appropriate strategies to win 10 seats in the 2012 general elections.

He advised the constituency executives to do away with any form of animosity and work together, to ensure victory in the 2012 elections. The Regional Chairman said the CPP is the best alternative party to govern the nation after the NPP and the NDC.

Mr Etroo said the party would soon elect party wardens and follow it with constituency congresses, to elect officers to steer the affairs of the party at the constituency level.

He noted that, the party had good policies that could rescue the economy from economic its doldrums and make Ghanaians happy again as it happened under the administration of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of the Republic of Ghana. 5
