The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has pointed out some errors in the Electoral Commission's 2024 Parliamentary Nominations Forms.
The trained legal practitioner in a post shared on social media platform X, observed that there are several syntax and drafting errors in some of the paragraphs on the nomination forms.
"This is to inform the Electoral Commission that it’s 2024 Parliamentary Nomination Form issued in pursuance of PNDCL 284 (as amended) & Reg 6 of CI 127, to be completed in Quadruplicates contain several syntax and drafting errors in Paragraphs 8(b), 9(a) and 11 under Part IV.
"So for instance, the said paragraph 11 ought to read:
“I declare that: I am NOT disqualified to be registered as a Voter under the provisions of any law relating to Public Elections.”
And NOT:
“I declare that: I am disqualified to be registered as a Voter under the provisions of any law relating to Public Elections” as it is presently.
"And so it is with para 8(b) and para 9(a). The NOT is conspicuously missing. I therefore urge all my colleague Parliamentary Contestants to take note not to indorse this EC FORM in its present form," his post noted.
The lawmaker consequently urged the EC to amend those paragraphs accordingly.
