Although the various aspirants in the NPP’s presidential race, including the Vice President congratulated Nana Akufo on winning the party’s flagbearership race, and promised to work with him, most of them expressed shock at the outcome of the election.
Speaking to an Accra based radio station on Saturday after the declaration of the first round result, a visibly tired Veep, Alhaji Aliu Mahama said “the people have talked: (sic), but we’re yet to decide on a run-off. I give my support and that of my supporters to Nana”.
Continuing, he said I’m a businessman, I’m a contractor, I will go back to business. Perhaps I won’t come back into politics.
Aliu had 146 of the valid votes cast.
