The Yoruba Community in Ghana has extended heartfelt congratulations to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the just-concluded December 7 general election.

In a congratulatory message signed by the President of the Yoruba Community, Alhaji Babatunde Yahya Azeez, the group lauded Mahama’s leadership qualities, describing his win as a testament to his dedication, vision, and connection with the people of Ghana.

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to your dedication, vision, and leadership qualities, which have resonated with the good people of Ghana,” Alhaji Azeez stated.

The letter emphasised the need for inclusive governance, urging the President-Elect to act as a unifying leader for all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion.

It also highlighted the opportunity Mahama has to foster unity, ensure fairness, and guide the country toward continued progress.

“As you prepare to lead this great nation, we encourage you to embrace the role of a father to all Ghanaians, irrespective of party affiliation, tribe, or religion. Your mandate is a call to foster unity, ensure fairness, and lead with justice,” the letter noted.

The Yoruba Community in Ghana expressed confidence in Mahama’s ability to steer Ghana toward greater prosperity and implement transformative policies that will uplift all citizens while enhancing the nation’s global standing.

The statement concluded with prayers for wisdom, strength, and good health for the President-Elect as he embarks on his new term of leadership.

Alhaji Azeez also reaffirmed the Yoruba Community’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and collaboration under Mahama’s administration.

Following the just-concluded general election in Ghana, John Dramani Mahama’s victory has been met with widespread positive sentiments, with various groups and individuals across Ghana and beyond expressing optimism about his leadership and vision for the nation.

In the 2024 presidential race, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress [John Dramani Mahama], emerged victorious with 56.55% of the total valid votes, defeating 12 other candidates.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party came in second with 41.61% of the total valid votes cast.
