Why should he keep you in his government if you are not going to contest to be in Parliament to help him. No President wants the opposition to be in the majority in Parliament. That is just normal.

Strategic thinking. These ministers who lost primaries will not give money to party to campaign. They know they will be out of jobs so tbey will definitely keep the cash to themselves to live on while out of Parliament.
