The presidency has announced that Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is acting as President.

This was contained in a post made on Facebook by the Jubilee House on President Akufo-Addo’s official handle, February 14.

The post announced the President’s trip to Germany for the Munich Security Conference, thence to Adis Ababa, Ethiopia for the 37th AU Summit.

The post said, “The President will return to Ghana on Sunday, 18th February 2024, and in his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.”

“President Akufo-Addo will attend the 37th AU Summit, being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting of the Heads of State will take place from 17th to 18th February 2024,” the presidency revelaed.

The Summit is on the theme, “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”

The communique said “President Akufo-Addo will host Member States of the Commission to a breakfast meeting on Education and on the AU Financial Institutions; and provide an update on Ghana as host of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area.”

1. He failed to build the internal alliances to support push his solutions
2. His lack of leadership showed how he could not manage the team around the president.
3. It was a test case for him. If he failed to build the internal alliances and failed to manage the team, then putting him at the presidency will be a major disaster, trust these words.
4. If he is really technically excellent as the party made Ghanaians to believe, and he was able to demonstrate that in reality and brought some solutions, he would have won hearts. But failure to do so and he only lectures and preaches without any result, then nobody will have time for him.
It would be a disincentive for Bawumia and the party to continue to make that narrative. He la ks leadership. Being good at lecturing does not translate into practical leading and managing.

Second the boy said Dr. Bawumia would become president but he would rule for only six months and his special vice president (to be selected for Bawumia) would takeover as events and the constitution demands. These spin doctors, are actually doing him a lot of dis-service. It paints a picture of a person, lacking principle or character. In Kenya Ruto stood up against his boss on principle, despite all the personal and political risk, went on to contest his former political sponsors and won.
