Sackitey likely had a phone because Block Factory Drivers must be be reached at all times by the Boss. Not a single NDC member has condemned the reckless act. They’re instead going on the defensive, looking for all kinds of excuses. 3 meters height is standard if the blocks hadn’t been piled up beyond the allowed perimeters. NDC chooses to leave out the main issue of the accident and attacks everything else! They keep telling us about brakes, track inspection and now, the bridge. They don’t want to talk about something they planned in order to pick on Government.

If you have any evidence they intentionally caused the accident, give it to the police. I think this is a very serious criminal activity and must be thoroughly investigated and those involved severely punished.

Everbody is disgusted, and rightly so, about a broken down truck across a newly constrcted railway line. But our biggest worry should be the uncontrolled movement of sheep, goats, and particularly cattle in areas all along the tracks. A speeding train would easily knock off or smash through sheep and goats; but the huge cattle would be our challenge, as hitting them would likely knock off the tracks. I have seen a speeding heavy truck go through a group of cattle crossing the Tema - Akosombo road; about 4 cattke died and some got stuck under the huge truck. So, what must we do? The cattle owners are reluctant to enclose their animals in feeding pens, and cut grass for them, or grow fast yielding alfalfa grass to feed them, like it's done in most developed countries, as that would entail added costs for the owners. Most of our politicians are said to own some of the cattle, and, as you can guess, nothing gets done about the roaming cattle, even in a developed metropolitan area like Tema, particularly in Community 22. So, I'm afraid, excluding cars and trucks from the tracks would solve only one part of the problem.
Cattle pens are usually electrified on American farms. However, to electrify the route all along the Tema to Akosombo route and beyond - against humans and animals - would be a huge challenge. The cables may even be cut by thieves - like they keep doing with the Motorway and N1 street lights. Maybe, we could consider employing robotic guards and drones along the railway route (in conjunction with long range radars on the train)
to warn first and shoot intruders with temporary immobilising tasers!

You are right to worry about roaming cows, sheep etc etc. It only in Ghana that cattle owners don't have ranches where they keep their animals and feed them. They even think that their animals has every right to be allowed to be roaming about feeding on people's farm produce.
