  UK citizens, for example, pay £500.00 filing fee (it is called Deposit) as parliamentary candidates. This amount is equal to the monthly wages of a part time office cleaner who works 20 hours weekly shifts.
  
  In Ghana, a sitting MP would take four months or more to earn the filing fee for the next election. Little wonder most MPs become thieves - those receiving double salaries and those who go on long 10 months or more holidays but still collect their stipend!
