  NEVERTHELESS, HAD IT NOT BEEN DR. KWAME NKRUMAH, MOST GHANAIANS WOULD NOT HAVE HAD FORMAL EDUCATION. WE USED TO PAY FOR SCHOOL FEES, WHICH WAS BEYOND AFFORDABILITY OF A LOT OF PARENTS IN GHANA IN THE EARLY "50s.
  IT WAS DR. KWAME NKRUMAH WHO INTRODUCED FEE-FREE EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS---FROM PRIMARY SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY; NURSING SCHOOLS; TEACHER TRAINING SCHOOLS; ETC. STUDENTS WERE EVEN GIVEN MONETARY ALLOWANCES. ASIDE OF THE FEE-FREE EDUCATION, STUDENTS ALL OVER GHANA, WERE SUPPLIED WITH FREE TEXT-BOOKS FOR EACH ACADEMIC YEAR. MAY DR. KWAME NKRUMAH REST IN PEACE !!! HE DID NOT HAVE A HOUSE OF HIS OWN; HE DID NOT HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT; HE DID HAVE A PERSONAL, EXCEPT HIS OFFICIAL CAR ! WHAT ELSE DID GHANAIANS WANT FROM SUCH A LEADER ????????

  There is nothing great about Ghana. We are still extremely poor and underdeveloped as a nation. See the reality people are living in and speak to their problems instead of bragging about our greatness as a country.
