Such overly powerful and overly overwhelming a trouncing is itself historic in the 4th Republic!

There is no denying that NPP's own folly is largely to blame! Open-heart surgery may help unravel and unearth the filth; but open-heart surgery is a serious -- and not innocuous -- affair; it requires the heart to keep pumping blood through the body while the surgery is ongoing. In other words, the party, as dazed and bewildered as it is now from the harsh trouncing, should be able to undergo the open-heart surgery without coming apart at the seams!
