For example, the Akans have AKWASIDAE, AWUKUDAE, FOFIE and many more. The Gas and our Northern cousins also have sacred days when it comes to their religions. I think we can create holidays for such sacred days. Christianity did not have Christmas and Easter but were created for them. So are the Islamic sacred days that were made Holidays. Why can’t we do same for our Traditional Religions. It will not be compulsion for non believers to observe them just like Christians don’t strictly observe lslamic religious holidays and some Moslems also don’t observe Christian Holidays. It would just be fair for Traditional religions to also be given some days as their religious holidays. Am l wrong? Let us be objective.

I would rather want us make changes to the elections day. The current rolling December 7th is not good. The 7th of December, as is, can fall on any day of the week and can inconvenience many adherents to the Christian and Muslim faith, such as Adventists and Muslims, as we saw in the last election.

I would rather suggest we fix the election day - not date - on a certain weekday. For instance, the second Wednesday of November, with the possibility of runoffs on the second Wednesday of December, would ease a lot of inconveniences.

I chose the second Wednesday of November, so that we don't get caught up on the same day that Americans are having their elections. Wednesday is not known to affect any major religious sect in the country. Again, it would allow people to attend to their communal and social events, such as funerals and weddings over the weekends, and still have enough time to get back to their bases to vote.

The day of voting should also be declared a national holiday so that majority of people wouldn't feel the pressure of choosing between going to work and going to stand for hours in line to vote. It beats my mind that we haven't found it necessary to change the existing 7th of December. The very low turn out in the last election may be due to the reasons adduced above.

Libations should be poured at all state functions and holidays shoud be allocated to commemorate it.Why should we prioritise foreign values and cultures above ours?
