NPP Constituency Deputy Secretary, Eric Owura Agyekum
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fiercely defended the integrity of the recent elections in Ahafo Ano South West, following fraud allegations leveled by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
At a recent press briefing, NPP Constituency Deputy Secretary Eric Owura Agyekum firmly stated that Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah-Dapaah rightfully won the parliamentary seat, dismissing claims of manipulation by the Electoral Commission or any other party.
Agyekum challenged the NDC to provide tangible evidence to support their accusations of electoral malpractice, criticizing their vague claims. He highlighted the sophisticated nature of voters in the constituency, noting that while the NPP accepted a narrow 489-vote loss in the presidential race with composure, the parliamentary results reflected a different voter preference, resulting in Mensah-Dapaah’s 686-vote victory.
Agyekum also questioned the suitability of former NDC candidate Mr. Abubakar Sadick holding a potential District Chief Executive position while being involved in election challenges, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest. He accused the NDC of misleading their supporters and pointed to the inconsistency in Sadick's actions.
Furthermore, Agyekum refuted claims that the military was involved in election violence at the behest of the NPP. He clarified that the military deployment was a standard security measure aimed at protecting individuals at the collation centers from any potential threats.
Agyekum concluded by reiterating that Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah-Dapaah has been officially declared the winner and will serve as the Member of Parliament for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency.
