When Ayawaso incident happened, Akufo-Addo was not in town. His peaceloving vice president decided to constitute a powerful Commission of Enquiry to look into the matter. The commission submitted their report with definite recommendations which if applied would prevent a future reoccurrence of the election violence. Akufo-Addo took the report and refused to accept its recommendations. Instead, he issued a White Paper rubbishing the Commission's report. If today we are experiencing violence during an election, the blame lies on Akufo-Addo, who had the opportunity to save the nation but didn't.
