Much as I am very happy that the NPP has finally been consigned to the rubbish heaps of history - and this time for good, one man amongst them stands out tall as a true politician, and a statesman to boot. Who else can this be but Mr. J. A. Kufuor? He is shrewd, tactical, observant, calm in the face of adversity, studious of practical thorny situations, discreet and firmly decisive when it matters most. But for the fact that he was in the wrong party with a wrong ideology at the wrong time in history and above all, at the wrong place in the geopolitical space of the world, Mr J. A. Kufuor would have created tidal waves in the currents and winds of world history.

Never seen to be ruffled by any instance of political trauma, Mr J. A. Kufuor calmly rode the complex storms of political office even till today when as a retired politician his influence and counsel radiates far and wide beyond our borders.

It is an unspoken but widely noted observation that he had very little faith - to put it mildly or politely, in Akuffo Addo and his opportunistic minions within the NPP circuit but however, when put to the test on the eve of the last elections, he readily threw in his hat in favour of Akuffo Addo's pet, Bawumia, as against what other more politically naive actors, pundits and observers thought should have rather gone to Allan Kyeremsteng, his long time apprentice, side-kick and heir apparent who had earlier disentangled himself from the messy maze of NPP internal politics. At the time, many thought that this decision was unprincipled. But on hindsight, it is to be realized that Mr. J. A. Kufuor took this difficult decision not only for the preservation of his own historical role in the NPP but also more importantly, it was in desperate defence of the continued existence of the Party of which he was, and is still a member. To have gambled, on the premise of emotional sentiments in favour of Kyeremateng risked throwing away his entire political heritage, whatever he had sacrificed his life for and the inextricable history that goes with it all.

Now to the likes of Prof. Azar. Wise people do not always speak their mind - much more, the truth. Mr. J. A. Kufuor is not a journalist or a lawyer or an accountant who are more professionally obliged to seek and defend facts and the truth. He is a politician and politicians, by the nature of their undertaking and broader social insights of life that are not always publicly evident to their subjects, cannot at all times depend on the bare truth to ensure national peace, stability and development which is their ultimate goal. If Mr J. A. Kufuor had at the time of the electoral campaigns said what he is now saying, the NPP would have probably ended up with at most 10 seats in parliament. I do not recollect at any time that Mr. J. A. Kufuor actually signed up in the NDC campaign team.

Kuffour should be guided by Matthew 7:3-5 "Take the plank out of your eye" is a biblical phrase from Jesus meaning you should deal with your own significant faults (the "plank") before criticizing or trying to correct others for their minor flaws (a "speck"), as you can't see clearly or help effectively while blinded by your own hypocrisy, urging self-reflection, humility, and personal growth first.

We must remember that Ghana had oil, gold, cocoa, diamonds, timber, rubber, cassava, palm nuts/oil, yams, rice, beans and so on and yet the country was declared HIPC.

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES* - MONDAY 8 DECEMBER

*PREDESTINATED, CALLED, JUSTIFIED AND GLORIFIED*

*Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified(Romans 8:30).*

I want you to notice what we just read: We’ve been predestinated, called, justified and glorified. What’s
predestination? Who are those predestinated in Christ? The predestination is done through the Gospel. That means anyone who hears the Gospel was predestinated to hear it.

The call is in the Gospel; if you accept the call, then you win because it says those who He predestinated, He also called. That's why He told us to preach the Gospel in every nation and to every creature; anyone who believes and is baptized shall be saved, and anyone who doesn’t believe shall be damned (Mark 16:15-16).

But in Romans 8:1, the Bible says there’s therefore now no condemnation or damnation to them who are in Christ Jesus; why? That’s because they’ve been justified:
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). What is it to be justified? It means acquitted, to be
declared not guilty.

So, before God, you are washed, sanctified and justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:11). In Christ Jesus, through the Gospel, you were predestinated, called and justified. But
there’s more: you’ve also been glorified: “…and whom he justified, them he also glorified” (Romans 8:30). Hallelujah!

Your life is endowed with and adorned in divine glory. The Lord Jesus said in John 17:22, “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them….” No wonder the Bible says as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). You’ve become the effulgence of the Father’s glory, just
like Jesus.

Knowing this, therefore, why should you be sick another day in your life? Refuse to be poor, weak or ignorant. Every so often, you say, “I'm glorified; therefore,
I will not allow sickness or disease in my body; Christ is magnified and glorified in me.” Hallelujah! This should be your consciousness. You’re predestinated, called, justified and glorified! Glory to God!

*PRAYER*
Righteous Father, I thank you for the revelation of your eternal purpose in my life. I walk in the light of my calling; predestinated, called, justified and glorified! I live with boldness and confidence, knowing that nothing in this world can unsettle my destiny in you. I walk in preordained paths, functioning in divine excellence, and fulfilling your perfect will every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Unfortunately, he looked one while Akkufo-Addo systematically destroyed the NPP. Kuffour knew that the way Akkufo-Addo was governing, the NPP was bound for defeat. So coming out to say this about Akkufo-Addo is disingenuous. However, such utterances are typical of Ghanaian politicians. They say and do things out of political expediency. Secondly, what is it that Kuffour is seeing in Bawumia to throw his full support for him? Bawumia is another recycled Akufo-Addo. Was he not with Akkufo-Addo that destroyed the economy? Kuffour would be better off enjoying his retirement quietly, instead of coming out to showcase his relevance.
