It's been a year plus and still surprising that even the classroom educated bunch prancing around Ghana with executive titles and classroom credentials lack the basics of a 24-hour economy.

There are 4 essential must have to implement a sustainable 24-hour economy and HE John Mahama, the 2nd president of Ghana with foresight and moral compass since the 24th February 1966 has been working on the 3 essentials to date in barely one year since taking office.

Employers, private or public, needs continuous and sustained electricity generation and supply, they need reliable and accessible roads and highways and abundant roadworthy vehicles which are ongoing. The year 2026, God willing, will see banking and financial institutions with money to offer loans to businesses to expand and grow and the possibility of a revamped Ghana rail system that can help with goods and transport of human cargo.

The one thing the Mahama government cannot give Ghana is a better wage scale; low wages in Ghana does not provide working families with extra disposable income to splurge on unplanned spending that would take us to the next level of economic growth and expansion.

The sad truth is that folks like Kofi Ofosu Nkansah and the doubters are eagerly waiting on government money and tax rebates so (just like what the lazy and ignorant Kufour administration did when it granted tax rebates for so-called hospitality industries. The rebate scheme was a bust and a drain on government revenue receipts because many homeowners took advantage of the tax rebates when their homes were not fit for zoo rentals) they can get rebates to abuse while pretending to be entrepreneurs. As business minded people, those interested in enjoying the 24-hour economy but lacking startup capital should submit business proposal to banks and financial institutions for loans.

HE John Mahama is not going to be rushed into a scheme that is not ready when the requisite infrastructure needs are not all ready yet. If private transportation unions are already playing games with their own responsibilities to Ghana then what happens when all the fake businesses get tax waivers, setup their businesses but lack the transportation for the distribution of their goods and services to locations and communities where their products are critically needed?

There's a section of the Ghana society that is not interested in the development of Ghana and a Ghana that has a majority of its citizens enjoying the fruits and riches of Ghana unless they and only they are at the head of government. The NPP and people calling for the 24-hour economy now should prove that the issue of food distribution- from farmland/villages to urban/metropolitan markets have been solved. The ignorant NPP that rushed to planting for food and other gimmicks could not deliver harvested farm products to centers/markets where people needed them; have we forgotten that quickly?
