Stop the blame game now! You continue to put square pegs in round holes! Please reshuffle the COCOBOD. Why should the COCOBOD’s CEO and others continue to be paid fat salaries and benefits while the cocoa farmers are given “haircuts” through no fault of theirs? The basic role of the COCOBOD is to cushion price fluctuations at the international market in such a way that the farmer wouldn’t be affected in any way. This was a basic WAEC “A” Level Economics question! Once this role is compromised, the COCOBOD becomes useless. We must as well allow the farmers to sell their own cocoa to the highest bidder! The government should either remove the fake “Dr.” Randy Abbey who knows nothing about cocoa farming nor the cocoa industry. The alternative is to dissolve the COCOBOD entirely to expose the cocoa industry to the free market pricing. If the government goes ahead with the price reduction, the short and long term effects on the cocoa industry and the Ghanaian economy would be disastrous! Many cocoa farms would succumb to galamsey. The farmers wouldn’t maintain their farms in part because of reduced revenues. This is my priceless advice to the Ghanaian government. A word to the wise is enough! God bless our homeland Ghana!

Go and play all the videos when NDC was campaigning and listen whether they promise to increase the price of cocoa or not. Now, listen. What is the role of a government in times like this? Yes, you live in the US but that does not mean you know everything. If John Mahama and his government can pump $10billion just to shore up the local currency, and I hope you know what $10billion is. That money can construct all roads in Ghana to asphaltic level but Mahama being a dross, just use it foolishly and have the gut to reduce cocoa price for our hardworking farmers?

Cocoa price has never been stable on the world market and what governments do is to act as a buffer for the farmers. They look for money to support them when the price fall because eventually, it will go up. Price reduction to weaken the farmer's purchasing power is out of the equation.

Go and tell that professor to come back again because he doesn't make sense and there no advice anywhere in his statement. He is just a pawn for Mahama.

I hope the professor can be bold and go the farming communities, hold a rally and tell them that NDC never promise any cocoa price increase.

As a cocoa farmer, l am sad to think that our cocoa went to pay for the pointless education of this keen idiot, looking so ridiculous in that robe. So PRESIDENT ABUSA didn't promise us any price hike? We hear. 2028 will eventually come. When President Abusa said that Ghanaians have short memories, for sure, he wasn't talking about cocoa farmers. We have long memories indeed! Now that he has taken a third of our income directly from our pockets and abosuo, he will soon realise how long our memory is. We have a saying that it is only when the frog dies that we get to know its real length!

PRESIDENT ABUSA has effectively inserted himself into the share-cropping system and taken a third of cocoa proceeds without ever setting foot in a cocoa farm. Traditionally, under the abusa system, the labourer or share cropper takes one third of the proceeds of sale of cocoa while the farm owner takes two thirds. Now, a third will go to the labourer. A third will go to the farmer while PRESIDENT ABUSA takes a third.

In the mean time, by day workers charged ghc70 in 2024. In 2025, it increased to ghc80. It is now ghc100 per day. Does President Abusa expect me to tell my by day workers that his cedi is now strong?

People like this pompous oaf of a professor are not new in Ghanaian politics. We farmers call them the YOODUOM BRIGADE. The NPP has them; and they abound in the NDC as well. They are the sycophants who urge presidents on as they lurch from one bad decision to the next until they fall into a deep gutter.

President Abusa, when your ndc comes campaigning in Asante Akyem South in 2028, we shall listen....from Cocoa Akesiemu, Akwaatiaa, Apianyinase, Pantimpa, Enyemegyimii to Akookosu. We shall listen. Then we will remember our proverb: "abaa noa yede bo Takyi no, eno ara na yede bo Baah*. And the same rod which we used to chastise Takyi in 2024 will be used to flog Baah in 2028. In the meantime, we farmers say "yebenom nsuo atwen ope".

Farmers don't go on strike that's why they are given a raw deal. So, if it's not JDM or ndc, then who promised to pay cocoa farmers 6500gh? You are not being truthful here because, Ato Forson told his constituents that npp gov't was cheating them and instead of paying the farmers two-third of world price and gov't keeping the one-third, rather, it has been the other way round. He went on to promise that should ndc voted into power they would reverse the system by paying the farmers the right price thus, two-third goes to the farmers and the remaining for the gov't. Now that you're facing the reality, see the blatant lies you are telling the public. You should keep on telling lies and the day of reckoning is coming. The gov't must keep on nicely running away from the promises they made and the people are keeping their fingers crossed. Similarly, a promise was to Gold Coast customers who funds are locked up that if they voted for ndc, the funds would be paid in the first year of ndc administration. Who don't want money ? The customers voted in their numbers with the intention that their monies would be paid but after assuming power, the finance minister in an interview with joynews, said the money must come from somewhere and where is he going to get the monies from to pay the customers? That was his answer to a question posed to him with regards to the locked up funds. Only God knows what's going through sections of the citizens see the gov't as disappointing and not trustworthy.
