Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang
Presidential candidate of the People's National Party (PNP), Janet Asana Nabla, has expressed confidence in Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, stating that she stands a strong chance of winning the 2028 general elections if elected as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on April 14, 2026, Nabla questioned recent opinion polls that placed Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang low among possible contenders for the NDC’s 2028 presidential candidacy.
According to her, the Vice President is highly intelligent, competent and capable of leading the country.
“I don’t have a problem with Asiedu Nketiah but one thing I don’t like about these polls is that we have a sitting Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, a very intelligent woman, competent and capable of doing the job,” she said.
Nabla said she was surprised that Prof Opoku-Agyemang was ranked near the bottom in the poll after earlier suggestions that she was one of the strongest female political figures with national appeal.
She argued that based on her own interactions with members of the NDC, many grassroots supporters continue to favour the Vice President as a potential presidential candidate.
“I have spoken to a lot of NDC people that I meet and they are always for that woman. They always tell me that she stands a better chance of winning,” she stated.

The PNP flagbearer further described the reported six percent support figure for Prof Opoku-Agyemang as insulting and inconsistent with the sentiments she has encountered among party members.
According to Nabla, the Vice President’s actual standing within the NDC is far stronger than what the poll suggested.
