The UK had for sometime under Tony Blair a minister who had lost his sight, and he managed the Home Office well. Hope Henry can help settle land and cheiftaincy conflicts. Good luck Henry.

Kweku you are right, we had a governor in New York who was visually impaired before and who did complete his tunre of office successfully. If Britain and the United States could do that why not give it a trial. After all we are still learning democracy from them, but the only differnce is that, we have turned it very ugly to the extent of calling our president and other citizens of Ghana names (especially when you are from the north or the Zango communities). Some are ethically impaired citizens, but they want to be presidents, ministers or regional ministers or have even been there before, enriched themselves and left. As long as he is not coming into the office to allow tapping our resources out of the country by these traditional chiefs who dress up in gold and diamonds (claiming it to be traditional way of dressing) with their entourage when travelling outside the country, and then return return in suits without the gold and diamonds, let us appoint him. Some are fighting for the rights of the gays lesbians in the country and they deem it right. So the visually impaired also have the right to serve their country when called upon and the president has the right to nominate the qualified ones for such appointments. Go ahead Mr. President.

Maybe somebody can tell me; from Kwame Nkrumah to Mills, is there any record of any government appointing a physically disabled Ghanaian as a Minister or even a Deputy Minister? A physical census by any interested person can tell you that about 80% of the physically disabbled beggars on the streets of Accra and elswhere, are Akans. Most of them have been trained to be able to independently take care of themselves, but they prefer to kill the beautiful grasses along the ceremonial roads and streets of the cities in Ghana.

If a Northerner wins elections to be the President of Ghana, it is a rig of elections; if a Northerner is Ph.D scholar or Professor, perhaps he bought the qualification from the universities in the Asante region.

It seems people are still sleeping. The former beliefs that the North is backward are over. If the Southerners and others go to sleep while the Northerners wake up to schooling, the tables will be miraculously turned over the sleeping dogs. It is happening now; and people are not realizing it.

Already we know that the illiterate Northerner speaks better English than the Asante scholar.

This Seikwa chief should rather be thrown out because he has really disgraced the people of Seikwa.It tells you how a primitive person in this era is leading his people.How can you discriminate in this era because somebody has a disability.Sad indeed.As we speak now I know a wheel chair person doing his masters in engineering at Georgetown University.That is civilization.In this era you look at the ability of the person and not the dis--ability.Kudos to President Mahama on this one he has really shown that he is ahead of times.You think forward and not backward.You talk about traditions but in this era traditions are due for constant review to improve on some and throw away those that are found to impeed development.Traditionally Akan chiefs were not allowed to go under the knief so they were not supposed or allowed to be circumcised.Now ask yourself are you going to keep that tradition today?Now that research has come out that uncircumcised penis is prone to several diseases.Trokosi like it or not is a tradition but do you want to keep that tradition today?Please wake up and start to think out of the box for development and not retard it.This is not about NDC or NPP.Thanks.
