Indeed, in the most technical sense, until the outcome of the current proceedings dictate otherwise, Mahama has been sworn in and is therfore the President.

The NPP have always claimed to be a party with a preponderance of intellectuals in its leadership. By reference to their conduct over the years, I have often wondered whether they ascribe a different meaning to the word "intelectual" than the commonly accepted one as that of a person who makes a living by dint of their cerebral exertions.

I do not myself, see the inherent logic in entrusting a dispute to the court as the ultimate arbiter, and then simultaneously availing onself of the self-help measures of boycotts and non participation in parliamentary duties.

Unless the entire court proceedings have been rigged in favour of the NPP to their knowledge, it follows that no one knows the outcome until judgement is pronounced. So why are they behaving as though there can be only one outcome? What if, on the evidence, the court finds against the NPP and in favour of the EC and other parties to the action?

For as long as I have been aware of Ghanaian political history, from the Gold Coast era to the present, those of the Danquah/Busia persuasion (of whom the NPP are only the most recent manifestation) have never once accepted the results of a popular election, no matter who was adjudicating. Even when the colonial British government who favoured them and preferred the UP lot to the more radical CPP and Nkrumah, rigged the elections for them,they were still unwilling to accept the results when the people of Ghana chose a more compelling message to what they were proposing.

It was ever thus, as the saying goes and here we are, some 50 years on, having to listen to the whining of a bunch of people distinguished only by their sense of entitlement and claiming they have been robbed of their birthright.

The NPP need to go back to the drawing board and fashion a message that is inclusive enough and compelling enough to persuade the majority of the population to vote for them. I have no love for the NDC myself because of its origins with the murderous Rawlings, but time moves on and people must heal themselves or die. What we must not do is keep fighting the ridiculous old battles that have cost our country so dear.

If any one wants to know where we could have been as a nation unshackeled by internicine conflict and bloody-minded blood letting, just look at Singapore and Malaysia. They both slipped the colonial yoke around the same time as we did, Singapore with infinitely less resource endowment than we had to start with. Yet today they have become power houses of economic activity with great credibility in world affairs.

As I have said somewhere on this forum, yes, NPP is such!

And Jesus said,"You have said it". This was when Jesus was asked: "Are you the King of the Jews?".

Boycotts, are one of the political weapons to express one's opinion.

What weapon did M. Ghandi use to achieve independence for India?

And I quote him agaan:

This author seems not to know or understand the serious and fallible assertions that I quoted above and their implications. May be he was very young at the time of Ghana's Independence and during The CPP government.

What would be his response if I were to tell him that, if the leaders at that time (before and after independence) had listened to what the boycotts were about and the reasons for them, most of these faulty statements would not had been made,

and better still,

how would this author had known what Ghana would had been, if the UP, an offshoot of the current NPP, had led this country from independence;

And if Osagyefo Dr, kwame Nkrumah and his CPP, had not used all the wealth of Ghana in persuance of his vaulting ambition for The Presidency of United States Of Africa?

We should aim before we shoot and not the vice-versa.

As it turns out 50 years on,we are still thrashing about to find a formula for uniting the continent because any fool can tell that in the separate unviable units bequeathed to us (again by the marauding West, we are no match for any passing power with a desire on our resources. Now that the Chinese have joined the scramble for African resources, who knows what is going to happen Africa with its largely incompetent and venal leadership?

As I said, everybody wants to be President, starting from Danquah himself who couldn't even persuade a majority of the Akans to vote for him in free and fair elections and was prepared to tear the new nation apart just so he could be President of a putative Akyem Abuakwa state.

I was not born when all these shennanigans were going on, but I love my country and I have taken the trouble to find out what has gone before, with the objective tools that any half-intelligent person needs to deploy to make sens of an increasingly complex world.

The antics of these irresponsible leaders of the past and present, reduced a proud nation to exporting some of its best and brightest, who help to build other countries at our expense and the sooner this idipocy stopped the better, so we can all come home and really build the country up.

What is most important is for the supreme court to expedite their decision on the petition, the continual delay of which, is causing all these problems.

The fault or blame lies solely at the door step of the supreme court and not the NPP.

Let's put this in perspective, if let's say NPP is on power and NDC is contesting the EC the rigging of votes at the SC, will the NDC be able to stand on its feet and support a.government knowing very well until the SC decide it's not a legimate government. I don't think so. We must therefore look yourselves in the mirror or remove peak in our eyes to be able to see clearly before we as human point a finger to somebody else rest of the fingers will be pointed at you. NPP even if they lose with the verdict of SC which I don't think that is gonna happen has made history. Now if NDC were to be in the shoes of NPP, there would have been chaos in the country so Mr lecturer and NDC supporters weigh both sides of the coin before putting anything on the Ghamaweb. Thank you
