If I were the prez, no region would have a minister from the same region. Kutu Acheampong did it and it was successful.

One of his policies was that he appointed ministers to regions where they had no tribal affiliation to the indegenes. Minyila, one of the most honest and patriotic Ghanaians became the Eastern Regional minister and he made Koforidua what it is today. I wish Mahama can do same by making sure that ministers appointed to regions should not hail from that region and should not have many acquaintances at high places there. Alliances to traditional leaders can be reduced. Kutu's strategy ensured that all coups against him failed except that palace coup that was from within his government.

Not a bad idea with appointing Regional Minister from outside the Region.
JJR did the same in the PNDC days.
The issue is that when a non-Ewe speaking Voltarian Kwasi Owusu Yeboah was once appointed as Regional Minister by NPP-1, it was said that there arose this difficulty of prominent Chiefs having to communicate in English, during his meetings with Chiefs.
This, it is alleged, didn't go too well with our Traditional Lords.
Even President John IV himself, when he came to my Tanyigbe village early November 2012, he fluently spoke to the folks in Ewe. They were so elated!!
