I am an ardent supporter of NPP. Infact, I was born with NPP in my blood. But I will never give credence to foolish talk like what Karbo has said. No one is above the law. If Sir John is guilty of what he said we are only pleading with the SC Judges to temper justice with mercy. Sir John is not above any other person in Ghana and therefore not 'a big fish' as Karbo desribes him.

We are fed up with the unguarded utterances of our leaders. People expected to know better speak with passion for political expediency whilst they know that what they are saying could inflame trouble and disturb the peace of the country.

What a bunch of immature leaders!
That is why Ghana is where it is now.

I realize how heavily folks have descended on Karbo for making this assertion. However, we need to be evaluating his statement in two ways which may or may not be used together to decide its appropriateness.

Firstly, we need to honestly check the practical truth in his statement. That is, we need to ask if it is really true that some of us are big fish, and others are small fish, in practical terms, even though the Laws of the country, theoretically, promise us that we are all equal.

Secondly, we need to check if Karbo was gleefully claiming that because Sir John was supposedly a big fish he would be dealt with more leniently.

Now, the verdict is out on Sir John, and he is given the option to pay a paltry fine of GC 5000 or go to prison for 6 months. Because he did not get a mandatory jail term does it confirm Karbo's claim? Or, do we have to acknowledge that given Sir John's position the sentence serves as a deserving penalty?

If Karbo was happily endorsing, indirectly, the practical existence of the big fish/small fish situation in Ghana, then he is undermining the expectation of equality under the Law and he must be criticized. If, on the other hand, Karbo was simply stating the practical reality, then we should not assail him.

I hope the judiciary and the law enforcement are listening. The judiciary has to apply the law according its latter and spirit, regardless of the persons involved.

The law enforcement has to do their work if some aimless hooligants take the law into their own hands to misbehave because some irresponsible so-called 'big fish' has misconducted himself.

So for the fear of riots, laws should be relax for some members of the society? These are the people who have been misleading the youth to do their dirty works for them.
