The political leaders are benefitting from the people's poverty. If the people are not poor how can they buy their votes with sugar, rice, etc? The politicians would rather want to keep the people in perpetual poverty.

I have no doubt Ghana's problem is at the heart of bribery and corruption and with strong audit and investigative apparatus the country can be very rich to uplift its people from poverty. All these criminals need to be made to pay back the money with the interest at the rate of the crime and a corruption charge to the tune of the proration of the investigation cost and such people banned from any public office for at least 8 years. We need that law.
