I have been around since Ghana attained independence and my memory is as sharp as that of a hawk, I do not remember Ghana fighting any wars.

To start with I am older than Effah Dartey so I can not imagine him fighting alongside the British in the second World War.

Since Independence, Ghanaian soldiers have been mostly involved in coup d'états, 1966,1972 1979, 1981 and lest I forget a palace coup in 1978.
The only external assignments I remember Ghana involved in would have been Peace Keeping Missions, in the Congo in the 60s, Middle East(Lebanon) starting 1974, Ecomog in Liberia and Sierra Leone,in the 90s etc etc So can Effah Dartey please tell us the war he led soldiers into?

These arm chair "generals" should please give us a break.

Yes, he was commissioned into the army, but was dishonourably discharged for plotting to overthrow Dr. Limann's government and was jailed for life only to be released shortly after those June 4 rebels overthrew a democratically-elected government.

After a dishonourable discharge, one couldn't use his/her rank. Could it be that Rawlings re-instated his ranks, they being in the same boat?

Surely, the Ministry of Defence/Ghana Armed Forces must clear the air on this man's status as a former military officer.
