The proposals put forward by IEA for constitutional reforms are the best possible ways of strengthening our democracy. Anybody criticizing or unwilling to accept them must have some myopic and self-serving agendas that are not in the interest of Ghana and its development. Our weak institutions can easily produce a "constitutional dictatorship" difficult to get rid of.
Those who have genuine alternative ideas and views regarding the proposals should come out clean and tell us what they have, and not hide behind to sabotage their adoption. These proposals in our view would reduce partisan politics and strengthen democracy and the rule of law in our country if adopted. On the other hand, if we dare reject them or drag our feet, we will continue to grope in darkness with disastrous consequences.

I sincerely believe that Mr. Stephen Amoah went too far in his prediction that there would be suicide bombings if Mahama won the next elections. It is the right and duty of the opposition to point out the failings and excesses of the government in power, and use them to convince the electorate not to vote for the incumbent in the next elections.
This is genuine politics and your constitutional right, but you cannot say that there will be suicide bombings if Ghanaians ignore your warnings and still vote for Mr. Mahama, despite the hunger and the hardship they are experiencing under his government. Instead, what Mr. Stephen should be doing if he believed the incumbent could wrongfully use his position to influence the outcome of the elections, is to make sure that the elections are free and fair. And that is why the IEA constitutional reform proposals are important.

In any true democracy, the President would have replaced the EC Chair long ago, but it seems he is being kept to do their bidding for them (the Government of the day).
Mr President, please listen to the voices of reason.

Double as lawyers for the party; many of these same individuals are members of the Judiciary Council, and thus pull strings, and exert undue influence within the judiciary! Little wonder then that they and their friends at the IEA,IMANI Ghana, etc want the appointing "powers" currently vested in the President[Executive],under the guise of resolving the trumped up problem of "Winner-takes-all"!
The trouble with these charlatans is that they seem not to have any problem with members of their party establishment openly throwing their support behind one candidates in a so-called 'fair' internal party contest, involving several contestants,in clear violation of their party`s constitution!

I am surprised that the GBA is claiming to have seen merit in the foolish case sent to the Supreme Court by Akufo Addo so as to unjustly deprive the Ghanaian electorate of their legitimate power to elect those they want to rule them. If there is going to be any civil strife Ghana, it will come directly from the partisan stance of institutions like the GBA!!!They should not forget that they will not be spared the consequences!!!

It does not occur to Mahama that it would be prudent to appoint a new Electoral Commissioner sooner than later, to give the appointee enough time to prepare before the next elections. But, No, not Mahama! He is probably waiting until Afari Gyan commits more money to unnecessary equipment which the new EC may decide never to use; then when the new commissioner is appointed, he would have little time to do a proper job, and thus cause more mess for the country!
If Mahama waits any longer than another six months to appoint a new EC, the whole country should know that Mahama does not care about the welfare of the nation, so we must all march to Jubilee House and remove him and his family and throw their possessions outside the tro-tro station nearby!
If a new EC is not appointed by March 2015, the whole world will ridicule the nation! Mahama, act now! Let all patriotic Ghanaians call on Mahama to appoint a new EC immediately!
LEAVE THE PREZ. ALONE!!!
