The voters register is there for all to see. Each political party has a copy. What is all this bleating about? The NPP has not come up with one error in the register. Yet they continue to make noise about the register. They are alone out of the six or seven political parties. It appears they have mastered the art of whining. This at a time when babies are no longer baby crying.
Why is it that the complaints of the Methodist Church are only coming from Kumasi and Obuasi?
Reverend Riverson should point out a mistake that needs cleaning instead of echoing the NPP.

Stop heckling the EC and let the existing inter-party committee engage meaningfully with the EC in all sincerity and transparency.
Some people have tried hard to discredit Afari Djan and the EC but they will continue to fail as long as the EC remains focused and above partisan 'politricks' as it has so demonstrated to the admiration of international community, including Ghanaians.

To who is the EC responsible? Is the EC an authority unto itself? Did you follow the Supreme Court Petition hearing? No one is heckling the EC it is the arrogance and intransigence of its Chairman Opanin bone Kwadwo Afari Gyan which is causing all these problems. Yes, there are laws governing the activities of the EC but is he as Chairman operating with a human face, clean hands and conscience? She answers to all Ghanaians and the common national interest through the constitution and the secondary laws. If they are found wanting take them to court. We are promoting rule of law not the law of the jungle. The last time i checked the anger of Ghanaians was not directed at the EC!!!!The EC can only do as much as available logistics will permit it! You and I should therefore work to ensure that, not engage in the shadow boxing.

All persons saying the electoral roll is bloated are either IT illiterates or just fermenting problems ahead of 2016 in ready for unleashing problems for this country in the event they lose the election. With biometric verification it is not possible to vote twice if all the verification machines are operational. They therefore should ask for good quality machines with solar powered backup batteries so we do not have the occurrence of 2012 when many had faults. They should also ask for good quality wireless connectivity so that all names are verified through the internet to the central database rather than localized polling post database which could lend itself to multiple voting. If the IT system is not top notch the electoral roll can never aid your cause.

The saying that "you do not have to trouble trouble for trouble to trouble you", is very apt here. Some very highly respectable personalities in the society have called for the CLEANINING of the Electoral Register aheard of the 2016 General Election. The EC which is solely in charge of all elections in the country have as part of their normal processes in preparing for holding the impending Local Elections, opened/exhibited the Register which was compiled BIOMETRICALLY just before the last General Elections two (2) years ago, with the aim that any names that may have been entered wrongfully, or might have expired since it was compiled might be IDENTIFIED and EXPUNGED from same.

Time was alotted and officers hired for this exercise. The general, public which in this case, was the main body that could help effect the CLEANING had all the time in the world to help make the exercise a success. If after all these meticulous effort, there there still VERY VERY IMPORTANT PERSONALITIES (VVIPs) calling for further CLEANING, then I berg to suggest that these VVIPS are either not abreast with what goes into CLEANING the ELECTORAL REGISTER, or they may be needlessly crying wolf.

The average Ghanaian respects and wants to take advise from the VVIPS in the society. For this reason, it would go without saying that before our VVIPS come out with any pronouncements, or instructions/suggestions, they should have researched copiously so that their pronouncements would be SPOT ON.

As it is now, our VVIPS are calling on EC to do an exercise they have already undertaken barely just weeks ago. Or just what do they want EC to do, ask government to go and borrow more money to undertake a fresh BIOMETRIC REGISTRATION which is not even four or five years old? Where then would be our priorities if this is their wishes for such a useless and wasteful endeavor? And of course, they are VVIPS.

In the run up to the 2012 elections, the Afari-Gyan led EC threw every and all caution to the wind, went ahead to engage in all sorts of processes and procedures which did not inure to the benefit of the country in terms of the credibility, integrity and the sanctity of the vote, poll and the EC itself. And this was after numerous calls had been made by the various bodies including the clergy, the think tanks, eminent persons in the country, development partners, CODEO, etc, etc to the EC to take the necessary steps working in concert with the IPAC to ensure the credibility of the polls.
It fell on deaf ears, and when the case ended up at the Supreme Court, the Chairman of the EC who is credited with having conducted a lot of elections across the length and breadth of the African continent could not even define over-voting creditably in the Supreme Court.
Another voting cycle is here with us, and calls again are being made on the EC to take the necessary steps to ensure the credibility, the integrity and the sanctity of the vote, the poll as well as the EC itself, by the same various bodies.
It remains to be seen if the EC would heed those calls or it would adopt the brazen attitude which led to the election petition, which exposed the irregularities, infractions and illegitimacy of the polls.
A second bite of the cherry as it were would not be in the interest of the security of the country and proactive steps need to be taken now to ensure the credibility, integrity and sanctity of the vote and the poll, and the EC failing in this exercise, would be anything but calamitous.
In this regard, pressure should be brought to bear on the gov't of the day, to release the necessary funds to resource the EC to execute it's mandate in a timeous manner instead of appropriating those funds to buy the vote and rig the process.
