Some regions with most of the resources are denied while those with nothing rather benefit. This is due to our "one-sided" politics of nepotism, tribalism etc.

This is the first time i have seen in this Country several determined but unsuccessful attempts to unseat a legitimate government at all cost voted into power.One thing that i am very sure of is that John Dramani Mahama as president of the Republic would have long been over thrown during the days of popular coups in West Africa.Sometimes i really sympathize with the President not because i am a northerner or a play mate to the president so to speak but the harsh tribal assaults he has to endure.But the hard reality is that John Dramani's ascension as President of the Republic once again points to the ugly side of Ghana's tribal prejudice and discrimination sometimes outright tribal hatred against northerners in this Country.I made a lot of enemies during my days in Common Wealth Hall coincidentally the same room as the Current President by being vocal against tribal segregation at the time.Some of the people who criticized me when we fought tribal bigots and extremists at the time were our own northern brothers we sort to protect from tribal attacks.The reason why we are still been demean and despised by some Akan Tribal bigots is because we demean ourselves as stupid and inferior before the Akans.When you stage a northerner against another northerner you see him at his fighting best but when you stage a northerner against an Ashanti man he suddenly recoils into his shell with fear and trepidation.That is why many of us including highly educated northerners in position of responsibility kowtow to them all the time.The word 'papeni' is a derogatory tribal remark with historical antecedence of stupid and sheepish loyalty as a result of a combination of fear and inferiority complex.There was recently an interesting development in Ghana Health Service in which a group of Akans led by the Director General Ebenezah Appiah Denkyira dubiously forged a letter to implicate a young doctor from upper west with a mental illness based on which he was sacked and have been out of job since 2012.These tribal bigots and extremists identified a Northern Minister of Health in the person of Alban Bagbin as a weak and feeble link to be exploited despite all his cloud.They were cocksure of succeeding after all a 'stupid papeni' in their mind's eye was in the seat as the Health Minister who could be turned against his own brother.Alas they succeeded with their diabolic plans of veil nepotism informed by tribal prejudice and hate when the DG,GHS dismissed the doctor without evidence of having a 'possible delusional disorder' warranting compulsory treatment failure of which warranted the dismissal.The Northern Minister of Health Alban Bagbin egoistic, buoyant and boisterous in his capacity as the Health Minister was the first to be copied letters that sacked his own brother from work in a shameless and irrational show of power.I have so much respect for the Ewes because you will never see an ewe man victimizing his tribe mate in solidarity with Akans why because they have found an antidote to tribal discrimination and hate by Akans through unity of purpose.That is also the reason why they have move far ahead of northerners on the social ladder despite the fact that the 2 tribes by dint of colonial fortune had Akans ahead of them because of early education.I am happy Osafo Maafo whose primary worry is the progress of his Akan ethnic group laid emphasis on Ewe unity without the mention of northerners by talking about how they hold steadfast to the NDC as a party.Both northerners and ewes were given a tremendous opportunity to develop their lot following the ascension of Jerry Rawlings into power.Whiles the Ewes took full advantage of it to push many of their people a good number of greedy self aggrandized northern political elite like Alban Bagbin use their power and wealth to bully,suppress and destroy their people.One should ask why Alban Bagbin should be interested in getting a doctor in fact related to him from the same ancestry sacked fro work with letters copied to him?It sums up the mentality of the Northern Political elite.Northerners behave like the proverbial crabs in a container who gang up to pull anyone of them back into the container escaping for freedom.If it is not me ,it must not be you syndrome.The other 2 major ethnic groups in Ghana have seen the need to unite in purpose for a common goal of development.Osafo Maafo's comment despite unfortunate is definitely in line with this thinking in the interest of Akans just like the Ewes.Northerners can only be counted along through self help by eschewing destructive and retrogressive tendencies towards each other.It is not for nothing most of the northern political and economic elite are always in tango in reckless and needless show of power.They must show the way in unity of purpose for the youth to follow if we are either to be victims of tribal discrimination or beneficiaries of tribal tolerance.

Osafo Marfo may have made those remarks based on how Ewes and Northerners have teamed up to marginalized the Akans who constitute the majority tribe in the country. The NDC government under John Mahama has shut the door for recruitment of Akans in the security services, and those who are already in are shown the exit at the least opportunity.
Rawlings 19years rule exhibited the same tendencies giving preference to the recruitment of Ewes and Northerners over Akans.
What Osafo Marfo said, or alleged to have said represents the feelings and observations of the Akan tribe, and if measures are not put in place to stop this open tribalism which is in practice under the NDC government, then the inevitable could happen.
It is just cheap talk to highlight the unity and peace in the country because those who are at the receiving end of this practical tribalism under the NDC government were mute about it.
Osafo Marfo's remarks only brought to the fore the reality of the current situation on the ground. And the only wise thing to do is for the NDC government to 'think' and treat all Ghanaians alike. The fact that the Akans have not complained in the past does not mean the problem does not exist.
If this problem is not solved once and for all, the probability is that the Akans would canvass for a Federal state system for the country where each state will have full control over its natural resources and human capital.
Nobody can blame the Akans when this happens. If it needs war to achieve this objective, so be it. We Akans will cherish the move. So leave Osafo Marfo alone and advice the NDC government to administer the state with open mindedness and good governance devoid of tribal tendencies and practice.
Osafo Marfo just talked to highlight the problem of tribalism which the NDC governments, past and present practiced in reality. This must change now! NDC government must stop the practice.
