Former President Jerry Rawlings claims 60 per cent of “thieves” in government now hold positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The former president alleged that those people fought for party positions just to protect themselves from a possible prosecution for their evil deeds.

Mr. Rawlings who was reacting to the acquittal of business man Alfred Woyome stated that prosecution presented a poor case just to protect some people in government implicated in the case.

Citing the involvement of former Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu in the Woyomegate scandal as an example, Mr. Rawlings questioned why she was left off the hook.

"Woyome the thief is now a free man because some of our people who were involved in the thievery like Betty Mould and one other person were not produce in court for interrogation to provide vital information to jail him," he fumed.

“When 40% of the corrupt people have lost their positions to enable us clean the party, 60% have now come in to protect themselves and we also vote them. Are we so stupid” he quizzed.

No government including the NPP and NDC have thought proactively to diversify the sources of power in Ghana. Why should Ghana be obsessed with mega hydro power schemes when it has become apparent that the water levels in the rivers have been falling. Despite that governments continue to build hydro dams and wasting tax payer's money. Why can't the government of the day invest in renewable power like wind technology along the coastline from Afloa to Axim; solar technology which is abundant in Ghana; geothermal which can directly be tapped from the bowels of the earth; and tidal waves technology that could be tapped from the sea. These different sources of power can be directed to the main grid and this will offset the periodical energy crisis the country is facing. Believe me this is being done by progressive countries all over the globe including countries like Kenya, South Africa, Tunisia and Mauritius. This can be done in Ghana; and that is what progressive governments should be doing. This is not an NDC problem but a problem for all progressive governments in Ghana.

We need a government that cares about the ordinary citizen. How many Ghanaians can boast of three nutritious meals a day. Now health insurance has fallen apart, unemployment abound everywhere, corruption is everywhere in government and many more. We are really suffering and no matter which party you are associated with in the country let us speak the truth and act accordingly. Pretending that all is rosy will not solve the problems. Let us lay bare the facts so that the government can act to bring changes in the country to help everyone be it the rich or the poor man. Tribalism has eaten into our society. Now it is difficult to get a job in the country if you are not in the NDC or come from certain region. Why this? Osagyefo Dr. Nkrumah did his best to unite all Ghanaians but now tribalism abound in the country. God help us!!!!!
