If you can remember, during Rawlings' era a foreign firm was contacted to asphalt most of the roads in Kumasi. Rawlings did not get any praise for that.They told him they were not going to vote for him and that if he was not content he could roll all his roads away.
There was no "dumsor" or severe economic problems immediately after the late Prof Mills took over the reigns of government but his wife, Naadu was reported to have been hooted at by market women when she visited Kumasi.
In the known democracies, the moment a President is elected all the people irrespective of their party affiliations rally behind the elected President to help him develop the country. Sorrowfully, in our kind of democracy, when the President is from Party "A" we call him Party "A" President and vice-versa.
I personally think that it is high time we designed our own form of democracy where all the people can recognize and identify with any government in place. Anything short of that, I am afraid, the acrimony would always be there.
