I never thought that an "African politician" would go down so humbly, with dignity, electoral reality and some personal humiliation in Dr. Anane’s case—long serving MP/Minister, etc. For this display of humility and political maturity and statesmanship, I hereby join many Ghanaians to appreciate your candor, authenticity and just being human—who confronts successes as well as failures. BRAVO!!

Many times African politicians STUBORNLY and ARROGANTLY stick around whether the skies, roof or even the sun would fall on them on Earth. They have never understood RETIREMENT, DEFEAT, RESIGNATION (from bad deeds and/or incompetence) or giving way to somebody else.

However, this man is taking his defeat in stride and KOOL with his head held high. I was never a supporter of Dr. Anane’s and never sympathized with him over his extra marital affairs with a lady here in Virginia, USA. He badly messed up his professional integrity on that.

Our emerging democracy would surely need men and women of good character, with good educational backgrounds & skills, maturity, political understanding and reality, respect for the electorate and their decisions, humility (as displayed here) and accountability. Do not go into politics and think you're there for LIFE. The country doesn't belong to any one person or a group of people. Go there and serve and, doggone it, make room for others and not overstay like insane MUGABE of Zimbabwe. What the hell is “this Hitler mustachioed fool” still doing as president at age 90??

Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.
