Unless laws, rules and regulations are enforced and complied with in Ghana, the country will be lagging behind in development. The greatest problem facing Ghana is not corruption but the inability and unwillingness of those in authority to enforce the laws, rules and regulations and the inability and unwillingness of citizens to comply with the same.
The decision to pay doctors their full salary whilst on strike is not only wrong but also unlawful according Ghana's labour law. Moreover, it causes inflation and a burden on the national purse. Finally, it is not a deterrent to others and in fact, would encourage other public sector workers to go on strike in support of better pay and conditions.
The decision is wrong and government should stick to its decision not pay the doctors for the period that they were on strike. After all, the doctors through their leaders said that non payment of the salary for strike period would not affect them. This decision is a weakness on the part of government and would be misused by other workers.

A journalist has just lost his life while others are injured just because of lawlessness,people know they can always get away with any crime except we the poor ones.
These kind of things make it difficult to trust these people,they behave like dogs vomiting and going back to swallow that vomit.
If you behave like this who will take you seriously in future,why you have to freeze the salaries of teachers but not doctors,do we have two or more classes of citizens,teachers belonging to second or lower classes while doctors belong to first class citizens?

Doctors should accept that they don't deserve to be paid for the period they didn't work, and forgo such payment. Only then will they qualify to be viewed as honest professionals and not blackmailers.

What sense does it make for government to pay doctors for staying home for three and half weeks leading to the death of innocent victim. Does this not amount to being rewarded for evil behaviour. This is a shame to the government. They should have the balls to implement what is stated in the labour law - NO WORK NO PAY. Doctors should accept that they don't deserve to be paid for the period they didn't work, and forgo such payment. Only then will they qualify to be viewed as honest professionals and not blackmailers.
