The NDC people on the ground are emphatic in their opinion that despite the fact that the girl is the daughter of 'HE who must be obeyed', they do not know her in the constituency and worse-still, her name is not on the list of the active register of their party members. What more does one need to prove that the girl is just simply and opportunistically relying on her fathers absolute sway over the party to force and impose herself where she is not known and does not belong? Is this not a case of "monkey dey work baboon dey chop"? What happened to the populist NDC refrain, “we no go sit down make dem cheat we every day”!
It is obvious that this desire for the girl to run for the seat was an ill-thought out and belated decision which has now backfired. If the Rawlingses had any sense – which I doubt, they should withdraw and come again another day – perhaps somewhere else in the Volta Region where they will proudly vote for even a goat in an NDC scarf. If the privileged girl, who incidentally was illegally trained as a pilot with Ghana Air Force planes, does not withdraw, they risk the high possibility of dividing the ranks of the Klottey Korle constituency members, sympathizers and voters of the NDC. Remember the (P)NDC was founded on some hazy and fraudulent principles of anti-privilege, which is nevertheless one of the binding factors of that party.
They also need to seriously take account of what the incumbent NDC MP of the area, Nii Armah Ashietey has stated in the article above. He said, “Winning the seat is about what you’ve done for the people in the constituency to accept you, and not who your father is.” He also added that, “I’ve a charge to keep – I’m grooming people who’ll take over from me when the time is up. So you don’t allow people who are not part of us in the constituency to come from afar to contest those who suffered, and are capable to retain the seat for NDC unlike those who would lose it”. I think with this statement, he has effectively buried the chances of the Rawlings girl for good in that constituency. Plain common-sense needs to be applied to the situation and should the Rawlingses however persist, there is no doubt that the NDC will lose that seat badly.
And finally Corney, I do not know whether you read the article upside-down or the right-side up but nowhere in it did it say that if you have never voted you cannot contest (the) election. It is true that these mushroom papers write a lot of trash but I daresay that in that regard, they are no competition for the likes of you.

Ghana did not get where it is because we have had uneducated people run the country since 1966; we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel precisely because of the educated and political class. None of the presumed highly educated members of parliament have given a single worthwhile reason to be serving in parliament but for ignorance of most voters who have been brain washed, brow beaten and ill-informed into believing that classroom earned credential is synonymous with wisdom.
Dr. Rawlings could not be an exception to the old adage "an apple does not fall far from the tree" if she knows what I mean. Ghana has had enough of the Rawlings' already and the days of committing human rights abuses are over and Ghana does not have anymore constitutional articles to amend to indemnify evil.

If you were a member and travelled outside prior to the introduction of Party ID' , and voted in the first two elections before the new register and Party ID, they are telling you that you are no longer a member. Its a shame what Nketia is doing to this party. By default, Dr. Rawlings is a member of the Party. We have Nkrumah's children who were not born in Ghana when their father was president, but they are continuing to fight his course and you cant tell them they are not CPP members. Only in NDC. Why, they have enjoyed the glory, and wish no one else come close to the status quo. You need selfless people like Dr. Rawlings in Parliament to change Ghana. open secret that some so-called gurus of the party have been inimical to the fortunes of the party by way of their destructive tendencies geared towards personal interest and gratification rather than the interest of the party, both in terms of ideology and political objectives.The NDC currently have decades old MPs in parliament so-called 'mugabes' still clanging onto power by any means possible with very little or no work done as legislators representing their poor and deplorable constituents.It is an interesting spectacle to see parliamentarians of a Social Democratic Party hide under the ambiance of legislation or law making to justify underdevelopment and impoverishment of constituents who elect them to represent them.They persistently defend their duties as lawmakers rather than venturing into the political terrain, seen as their bonafide property in a typical case of power corrupt,absolute power corrupt.Most of them have ridden on the backs of neglected constituents to be immensely rich and powerful in the party,viewed and hailed as demagogues who should not be challenged in the midst of gross under performance and naked corruption.These old MPs are protected and literally imposed on constituents by an inner circle of corrupt constituency and party executives who form an iron clad around them for power dominance and personal gains.This current NDC primaries is politics to keep opponents at bay is an understatement.The majority leader of Ghana's parliament naturally supposed to uphold democracy and rule of law is the most vicious autocrat in contemporary Ghanaian politics and have persistently resorted to intimidation ,real threats and actions to destroy opponents perceived as a threat to his excessive powers.Favorable factors like poverty and ignorance in largely deprived constituencies in the North makes political monopoly and power dominance of this sort even more easy.I have made the argument before and still adamant in my disposition that merely expanding electoral college within the party does not guarantee democratic,free and fair election.The NDC as a party should take urgent measures in dealing with autocracy and power monopoly by old guards who antagonize and dissuade young intellectuals in joining the rank and file of the party.The concept of 'God Father' in the party for political success is inimical to democracy in a social democratic party and only smacks of corruption and manipulation by the same old autocrats who do not want to give way to the youth let alone encourage and empower young intellectuals.The President have shown goodwill in empowering young intellectuals in the party by giving a good number ministerial positions and and other key positions in government.The President and the Party Leadership should keep the flames burning by eliminating stringent and discriminatory factors deliberately employed to kill political ambition of young intellectuals in the party.Dr.Ezenator per her status as a medical practitioner ,not just because her Father is the Founder of NDC, should be encouraged to contest the Korley Klottey seat unconditionally.The NDC needs intellectuals of her caliber than she needs the NDC to be effective as a party and government.The NDC as a grassroots party and the favorite party of the majority low social class is likely to dominate the political terrain albeit a short while as the Country move into middle income level.What that means is that academicians and other educated folks will be key in determining the outcome of future elections.Political success in this regard will hugely favour the main opposition NPP in future with array of intellectuals.

She is being tele-guided by the same old guard of the party whose only loyalty is to Rawlings, to represent their interests. Surely you cannot be so daft?
What does she know about Klottey Korle or for that matter Ghana?? In the brief time that she grew up in Ghana, she was held in confinement behind a 15 foot wall with an electrified wire on top. Any time she and her siblings were let out of that confinement they were strictly guarded by military goons and a dogsbody by name, Victor Smith who by that menial service was eventually appointed as an ambassador.
Under such circumstances, the Rawlings girl might as well have run for a parliamentary seat in the North Pole.
It is almost strange and indeed funny that today, NDC activists such yourself are saying things like "The NDC needs intellectuals of her caliber..". Maybe you are a recent entrant in the NDC but I wish to tell you that the NDC was founded on the spirit of the masses - peoples power. later when they discovered that they did not have a distinct ideology upon which to peg their aspirations, they adopted what they think is social democracy - only for convenience. And even social democracy rejects any kind social privileges of the kind you seem to be promoting.
Contrary to your blind and ludicrous assertions about the country moving into middle-income status, rest assured that this will not happen in the next 50 years. All indications around us at the moment, hint to the fact that the fortunes of this country will continue to degenerate into worse forms of poverty in the near future.
Now to this thing about the youth. For me it is strange that the NDC has not as yet discovered that its main downfall is the dependence on and appointment of so-called youth in various govt positions. The present stock of youth in this country have not got a clue, they are bankrupt of any values which can promote this country forward. The biggest example is the President himself.
The youth in this country are more corrupt, more inept, more incompetent and even when educated, they behave like total and complete illiterates. I believe you are also a youth of Ghana by the way you presented your comment of almost a thousand words in one paragraph.
