It is a pity that any Tom Dick and Harry can just insult on this platform. Just to teach you a little about Paul and all the sacrifices he has made for the Danquah - Busia - Dombo tradition. When JJ Rawlings staged his second coup that saw him in power for 19 years, Paul Afoko was the young man who seized the GBC radio station in Bolgatanga to challenge and mobilize people to resist the coup. Am sure some of the opportunists who are insulting him were either babies or not yet born. JJ had to dispatch Soldiers from Tamale to Bolga before Paul abandoned the radio station and crossed the border to Burkina Faso. Whilst in Burkina Faso Paul was used by the opposition elements to gather intelligence for their resistance from neighboring countries. At the time loud mouth Bugri Naabu was a loading boy at Ghana Airways in Tamale. Now, Bugri Naabu has the guts to say Paul joined the NPP in 2004. The collapse of Central Hotel in Bolgatanga that was operated by Paul's father is due in the main by the use of the funds from the hotel by Paul for NPP activities. While Paul was siphoning money from his father's hotel to support NPP activities some of the people insulting him now were not comparable to him. As a bystander watching the way Paul is being treated by the party he has given his all, I feel pity for him. The question I keep asking myself is whether NPP is a party worth sacrificing for if you are from Northern Ghana. One thing I know about Paul, from our High School days, is that Paul is a fighter. So NPP must get ready for a fight from Paul. Paul is fighting the abuse of the NPP constitution and is highly motivated by the Oath he swore to protect the NPP constitution. The elders should take the blame if this fight becomes protracted and destroys the chances of NPP in the 2016 elections. Good luck.

Five out of 16 Brong-Ahafo Regional executives of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have been sacked for non-performance.

They are the chairman, Seth Gornor; vice chairman, Prince Adumatta; treasurer, Clement Kadaa; assistant secretary, Victor Amoako and the secretary, who is affected posthumously.

Twenty-nine constituency chairmen in the region met at the regional headquarters of the party yesterday to pass the vote of no confidence in the executives.

However, it was only the regional chairman, Seth Gornor, who was present when the decision was taken.

A drama however, unfolded after the decision was taken when the 2016 parliamentary candidate of the party for Sunyani West, Vivian Tetteh, arrived, knelt down and broke into tears before the constituency chairmen, pleading with them to rescind their decision.

Reading their charges to them, the Berekum East chairman, Charles Boahen, said the executives had not performed up to expectation since they were voted into power, especially the chairman, who is also a bank manager.

According to him, Seth would not pick calls whenever any of the constituency chairmen called him. In addition, since he was ushered into office, neither he nor any of the executives had ever visited any of the constituencies to find out how the constituents are strategising towards the 2016 elections.

More so, Seth said, the regional chairman, prior to the party’s national delegates’ congress at Takoradi in the Western Region, did not know how members managed to attend the event. These, among other reasons, made them believe that the executives could not do the work.

To this effect, letters relating to the vote of no confidence had already been sent to the national executives, copied to the 2012 flag bearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.

Responding, the deposed chairman asked for dialogue and clemency saying because of his job as a bank manager, he has little time to respond to their calls. He blamed them for not channeling their messages through his vice or the organizer. According to him, he spends his own pocket money on party activities, especially fuelling party vehicles, so members should consider that and rescind their decision.
