Ben you are wrong to suggest that Zanetor's eligibility or ineligibility is not a big deal. This is because it bothers on potential breach of electoral laws in Ghana, including those of political parties that are regulated under the 1992 Constitution.

First, NDC should have disqualified her because the party was aware that she was not a registered voter under their own rules. Second the Electoral Commission should have ensured that all candidates approved by NDC to contest the primaries were qualified to contest before supervising the elections.

Unless and until Ghanaians irrespective of who and what you are were made to comply with the laws, rules and regulations and on one is above the law, democracy will fail and Ghana's development will go nowhere. Why should Zanetor be treated more favourable by NDC against their own rules?

Of course, she can register during the limited registration exercise and contest as an independent but NDC should not delay any future contest just to suit her. That would not be democracy.

You are right about her registering during the LIMITED REGISTRATION PERIOD so that even if she loses the court case she can still contest the primaries on the ticket of NDC. Though that may depend on when the court case is determined and when the party organises another if the need be. But for now if you are one of her handler then I can say that you didn't do a good job.

But like Ephson has said, any re-run will definitely occur after the April 28-May 8th Limited Voter registration exercise and by then Ezanetor would have had her proper registration; and she will surely win again!

The girl's credibility and that of her whole party and gov't is in the tanks. This situation and type of conduct reflects off of John Dramani Mahama and it actually lays bare, the lack of leadership in the NDC party and gov't and the NDC's unholy penchant for rigging and stealing the mandate of the citizenry.
Such conduct has found space in our national elections, where some interest groups sit somewhere and decide to foist a President on this country as every Ghanaian has witnessed in the case of John Dramani Mahama.
But for the vigilance of one of their very own; Nii Armah Ashietey, the NDC party and gov't's modus operandi of rigging and stealing the mandate of the citizenry would have befallen Nii Armah Ashietey.
The state of the NDC party and gov't under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama is currently at it's worst, never before witnessed in the annals of the history of contemporary Ghanaian politics.
How can John Mahama lead this country? How can he deserve a second term according to him? Did he even win the 2012 elections?
Ghana needs a healthy democracy that situates the germane issues affecting the citizenry in the center of the debate, and that must be undergirded by credible parties. Sad to say, the NDC party and gov't led by John Mahama has gone over the cliff, and completely buried their credibility on the back of a fantastic lack of any leadership in that party and gov't, it is amazing. How can John Mahama in any remote way therefore govern this country? It is impossible as the record has shown and it is for this, and a number of reasons the John Mahama-led NDC gov't is leaving office in November. He cannot lead this country and is by far, one of the worst leaders in Ghana's recent history.

So nothing can stop her from aspiring to be an MP in the 2016 election. If the NDC's own vetting committee had cleared her and she was the elected one, it means, she is the party's candidate. For obvious reasons, any serious party would like to field the best candidate. Ashietey is simply wasting his time.

NPP would have had by now called for her disqualification based on her not being a registered voter as per Ghana's Constitution. If she gets the chance of registering before the party files her candidacy with EC, then no laws would have been broken. This is why NPP is quiet for now. This is a storm in tea cup. No case.

But in the likely event of a re run why should they wait for her to Regus lose her votervstatus? That will amount to the law allowing her to benefit from her own illegality which will be in fair to the other candidate. Come to think of it poor Ghanaians have been standing in the hot sun for hours to vote for her father and her party for many years. Yet she did not even respect us enough to do her civic duty of registering to be a voter. And did her parents not know this? This is a lesson to all of us - no politician is worth dying for. They are all opportunists.

Well, I am not a lawyer and I don't know how the Court will rule on the matter but my layman English tells me that the Constitution clearly bars people from being "Members of Parliament" if they do not meet certain conditions. That constitutional provision does not bar people from being "Parliamentary Candidates". I think those two are different.

Assuming Zanetor goes ahead to contest without being a registered voter, it means that she is only putting herself up for parliament. By this provision, it seems to me that Zanetor can contest the election, win it and thereafter register as voter (if there is any chance) before she is sworn in. There is also a difference between being a "Member of Parliament Elect" and being a "Member of Parliament". Anything can happen between the time one is elected to go to Parliament and the time the person actually becomes a "Member of Parliament". It seems to me, from my illiterate legal mind, that the "Letter" of that Constitutional provision goes against swearing in a person as a Member of Parliament without being 21+ and a registered voter rather than prevent a person from "contesting to become a "Member of Parliament".

I think zenator will win the case in court. The voters roll used by the NDC was an NDC members roll and not EC voters roll. She won on merit. She has the opportunity to be on EC voters roll when limited registration opens.
