What a democrat should have been doing at this time is to prove to Ghanaians that the process wasn't fair and democratic, and that led to his defeat. Any other argument is bigotry and nonsense.

People behave as if they're the only people who have the right to represent Ga people in the constituencies where they live or in Ghana's politics in general.

What about Lawyer Addison and the other contestant who were cheated in the previous contest, when Kwabena Agyapong hurriedly conducted NPP's poll without allowing others to fully participate. That's why we're hearing such ugly statements. It's obvious the so-called agenda 2020 group are part of the plot behind most of the troubles that seem to have engulfed the NPP. People need to be smart; they've allowed NDC to infiltrate the party camps causing chaos through certain characters within the party. It's a shameful situation.

Nii Noi won't get anywhere he;s a funny guy; he should rather be smart and think of the way forward for the party by getting involved in the campaign drive. Else his decision to go solo won't yield any results. He's just wasting his time. Saying that he'd want to go independent is a wrong idea; he better go "republic" than the former. He's just wasting his time.

Whatever be the case, it's obvious the Osu NPP constituents prefer Addison who is probably a non-indigene, to Nii Noi, who is an indigene. The nonsense that this ugly and buffoon of a Chairman is spewing out smacks of tribalism--in fact that’s exactly what it is--and should be treated with contempt.

It is Ashitey who started this nonsense of “Sons of the Soil” in Tema in which indigenes have been brainwashed to vote for fellow indigenes in all political elections no matter their incompetence and no matter the contribution the non-indigenes may have made towards the development of their communities. This warped reasoning presupposes that the indigenes would want to preside over development more than the non-indigenes! It is an advice that saw Ashitey representing his own folks who are the simple-minded, trusting and hardworking fishing community of Tema East for three consecutive terms (one under the NDC and two under Kuffour) even though he wasn't effective as a leader who could mobilise them for development. Ashitey simply took advantage of them, stole their development funds in the form of the MPs Common Fund, amassed personal wealth and literally abandoned them.

Apart from Ashitey’s involvement in what was described at the time as the largest financial malfeasance in the history of Local Government at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and his ironic promotion to and abysmal performance as Minister for Industry and then Fisheries of which he was relieved on both occasions, there wasn't any appreciable development in his constituency except for a pitiful post office and a laughable IT Center he crowed he sponsored with his share of the MPs Common Fund. If you saw the structures,nobody would tell you their costs were inflated! Even at Fisheries, he was involved in the shenanigans with premixed fuel. He left his constituency worse than he found it. Finally when his constituents saw through his chicanery and voted against him in the primaries, this ugly buffoon blaming everybody but himself even had the temerity to threaten not to pay his filing fee!

Unfortunately for whatever reason, Tema East has followed Ashitey’s advice. It continues to elect incompetent indegenes. As a result, the area has remained the least developed Tema constituency. It is overcrowded, filthy, and literally without any drainage system . . . .And you're right.The elected constituency’s representatives don't live among them!

It is pertinent to note that Kuffour’s failure to prosecute those involved in the TMA financial malfeasance despite the promise on November 27, 2003 by his then Minister of Information Nana Akomea to do so and his apparent reward for the criminals brought a rift in the TMA between Tema West (who through their MP Osei Aidoo, a non-indigene, had asked for the culprits to be punished) and Tema East (who felt obliged to protect the culprits who included their MP, Ashitey, an indigene).

Ashitey’s “Doctrine” is also behind the present friction between the Tema West MP, Naa Torshie, who has been defeated in the primaries by Carlos Ahenkora, a non-indegene. In fact in character with the indiscipline that has engulfed the NPP and as blatant support for an incompetent indigene, Naa Toshie, Ashitey went out of his way to disqualify Ahenkora from the primaries with the cockamamie excuse that he Ahenkora hadn't “nurtured” the party in his constituency before he was overruled by the executives and Ahenkora went on to win the primaries.

It is this same divide-and-rule tactics that Ashitey has used to become the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional NPP even though as the NPP MP for Ablekuma West Constituency Ursula Ekuful, has pointed out, he hasn't done anything to deserve that post.

Such issues have time and again shown that given the chance, Gas are more likely to take advantage of their own while the victims prefer to keep quiet because they don't want “to wash their dirty linen in public.” This practice doesn't augur well anywhere for development.

We should embrace non-indigenes in
our communities not only because Ghana belongs to all of us but also because non-indigenes energize our communities with skills not readily available locally. They also increase the size of the pool from which competent public appointments can be made so that we can reduce the probability of appointing/selecting the wrong person for the job.

Ashitey’s view is not only myopic but stupid and selfish as he is, militates against development and dangerous. It must not be countenanced anywhere.
