He received a Chartered Institute of Bankers Diploma (A.C.I.B) in the United Kingdom with distinctions in Monetary Economics, Accountancy, Law and Banking Principles from Emile Woolf College of Accountancy, London, England in 1984. Bawumia spent his undergraduate years at University of Buckingham, UK and graduated with B.Sc. Economics (First Class Hons.) He received his Masters Economics from Oxford University in 1988 and PhD with Specialisation in Macroeconomics, International Economics, and Monetary Economics from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia., Canada in 1995

After graduating from Simon Fraser University in Canada, Dr. Bawumia worked for the International Monetary Fund from 1994 to 1996 when he left for a teaching position with the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University in Texas, USA. After leaving Baylor University in 2000, Bawumia started his career at the Bank of Ghana as a Senior Economist. Between 2000 and his eventual resignation, Bawmuia also held the position of Head of Monetary Policy and Financial Stability, Special Assistant to the Governor, Capital Market Committee Chairman, Monetary Policy Committee Member, and Deputy Governor

Thank to wise man Dr. Bawumia, who has caught NDC stealing bridgade lead by Mr. Tekpor, the Finances Minister. NDC is spitting all these nonsense about Dr. Bawumia because they have been caught stealing $250 Million loan given to Ghana by IMF.

I stand by your comment though I don't have or seen any credible evidence match to your claim but on perspective view Bawumiah seems a confuse so called PHD holder of economics be causes to my Little knowledge in economics, it will require any senseless PHD Holder of economics to hurt and dent so much disparaging comment on the very economy this same person want to govern. I hardly and struggle to find the wisdom of it. Most of the present economic hardships happening here today are caused by these vicious so called PHD hulabala people. Thus it take a wise person to get political power before change can happen in the welfare of people at all? A school I don't believe it. Also Bawumiah if indeed is a well trained PHD, is he aware that there are factors that affect investor confidence, consumer confidence and how such things can be greatly affect the economy of a nation ? I am totally beginning to belief there must be fishy stuffs about his credentials. I have also critically read his profile on the google and I suspect a gab between his O'level to Univercity education and people should also read, you will see that there was not space of his national service time or duration there.

Currently, the total number of educational institutions at all levels has risen sharply from 45,447 in 2008/09 academic year to 57,270 in the 2014/15 academic year, representing an increase of 11,823 or 26%. The ongoing construction of 123 SHS across the country will provide space for the admission of about 400,000 who would have been out of school.

I wonder why people will go every extent to seek to destroy others without knowing they are destroying themselves because of politics and something for the stomach. Solomon is gaining notoriety for foul speech and fast becoming like others in both two big political parties in Ghana. The other day it was the unprintable statement from Solomon that Ashantis are a disgrace to humanity and nothing good comes from there but Asantehene's royal astuteness without even knowing that he insulted Otomfuo he was purpoting to praise needlessly. Thank God Ashantis forgave him (I am not an Ashanti anyway)And today, because of politics, yes, because of partisan politics, this same tongue is throwing out hot air about someone's hard-earned academic credentials. Well, no condition is permanent and I can only advise Solomon to be cautious in exercising his rights to promote the ideals of his NDC party of which I myself am a sympathiser.

No matter his level of intelligence, he is been able to detect fraud in the NDC'S handling of our finances and that puts him way ahead people like Terkper or Opuni....all thieves.So don't worry.Bawumia has worked at the BOG before so at least he has got the experience.That is all that matters.Just stop stealing and come with better ideas .

He should not over do to damage his future politically because it is easily said than done. Politicians see and understand when they are there, that is when they take the mantle.

Although people would not choose to challenged his qualifications yet as he has weakly opened himself to foolishness only to please Nana and the NPP the time has come that he ought to do much realistic research before coming out to talk to the public when he wants to condemn and lambast the NDC on their economic policies.
