Students pursue all forms of disciplines. Their opinions count very much to the successful implementation of Government policies especially when over 18.

It is my opinion that when Government finances an institution or even the institution needs the permission of Government to implement a policy decision, the Government takes the flap or the credit for the decision. If the Government in power has genuine democratic credentials which attracted foreign investors, all developments or lack of are claimed by the Government. All the actions of a nation at a given time under a particular Government are claimed by the Government in power.

If a mogul of NDC,NPP, PNC, CPP or any of the other parties embark on a massive development, e.g. Shopping Mall or Filling Stations or chains of affordable accommodation during the tenure of a particular Government, the development credit goes to the Government in power.

If, therefore, Ghana is so unstable and so nobody wishes to invest in anything, there will be a call for the change of the Government in power. The credits come in different shapes or forms. The Government of the day may say something like this: We have created so much stability in the country so that foreigners have confidence in our country, our sons and daughters in the diaspora are now coming home to invest. If even the Presidential aspirant of any party embarks on a project and cites his Party but it happens under the tenure of another party, the Party in power has created the atmosphere, they have been consulted hence they can cite that particular project as one of the developments under their governance. Please, fellow Ghanaians and country, even the atrocities of armed robbers are blamed on the Government of the day. The Government in power cannot be excused or denied their due.

I am a bit curious how a student who is just passing through the University was shown the financial records of the University. Why did he not tell us, what the Government in power contributes and for what to the survival of the KNUST?

Although I am positing that actions directly or indirectly undertaken during the tenure of a Government in power are claimable by the Government in power, I am convinced that in this particular instance, the University administration if the assertion is remotely true received Government funding. Why was it not the University shouting?

Finally, the actions of all Local Authorities even in anti-government in power hardline areas are claimed by the Government in power as no nationals can be punished because of their political affiliations. For example, if a group object to a small Government project in any hardline area, the Police financed by the Government will be sent in. In this vein, I believe any hardliner in any local authority working against the Government is deemed a saboteur.

Let us Ghanaians give our present President and his party the credit they deserve for all projects from 2008. Afterall, our future leaders can interpret the measurement scales used for growth in comparative years . It does not single out individual institutions.
