sundry.I remember the vigilance against corruption during the days of the PNDC was such that white collar criminals in public institutions were scared at the mere site of kids playing around offices because you don't know who will report you.What you are sure of is swift action against corrupt elements in society.The Mahama government unfortunately seems to be conniving and condoning in wanton corruption.The reluctance of the incumbent NDC government to apply the principles of social justice in the interest of the poor masses as a social democratic government is one major factor that will probably cause them defeat in 2016.When serious cases of corruption are exposed without investigation and prosecution with every attempt at justifying them,then you can be certain rot have been institutionalized in our society today under this government.That apart,when committed citizens who perform patriotic duties by exposing and reporting corruption are witch hunted,persecuted and victimized to cover rot,then it is safe to conclude that this government is indeed superintending over rot and indeed indulging in it.When the Mahama Government try to rebuff glaring cases of corruption through blackmail,propaganda and obvious fabrication targeted at critics of corruption and illegality,you cannot but conclude that the government encourage same.The NDC as a party started as a revolutionary movement.The reason for the AFRC/PNDC Revolution was corruption.The working principles of the PNDC of probity,accountability and integrity was leadership by example to be followed by the people governed.Make no mistake,the revolution had its own limitation but was hugely popular among majority poor masses because it ensured social accountability and social justice.The incumbent NDC Government priding itself as a social democratic government under President Mahama is riddled with mass corruption and illegality to an embarrassing level hence the problem of institutionalized corruption that is literally paralyzing institutions including institutions of law and order.What compounds the problem of overt corruption is government persistent position in justifying overt corruption cases and deliberate conscious attempts at covering naked corruption and illegality by targeting and victimizing anti-corruption voices through veil oppressive and brute tactics.When an issue of blood transfusion led to the death of a teenager in Effia Nkanta Hospital because she could not pay a bribe of 50 ghana cedis,a certain doctor who attended to the decease was illegally sacked to cover the rot.The particular instance of the demise of Patients Sakpetey who was refused blood transfusion because she could not afford an illegal fee of 50 Ghana Cedis was widely followed by both social and traditional media.The Medical Superintendent who was overly suspicious of the doctor on duty that night blamed the media hullabaloo on him and illegally dismissed him largely based on personal vendetta.The doctor takes his case to CHRAJ and wins compelling the management of Effia Nkwanta to reinstate him.The incumbent Director General Appiah Denkyira subsequently dismisses the doctor in less than one month in position without the courtesy of any audience based on dubious,baseless fabrication of a mental illness on his person in typical case of nepotism,cronyism and dirty politics in support of the management of Effia Nkwanta Hospital.Dirty politics in a public institution because the medical superintendent Dr.Paul K Ntodi attacked the doctor on numerous occasions as a sympathizer of the ruling NDC government who was reporting him to bigwigs in Accra without bases.This was a tribal attack on a subordinate who was a northerner mainly by Akan Superiors including Appiah Denkyira,Akwesi Osei(Chief Psychiatrist),Brobby Mpianim,Secretary to the Director General,Ghana Health Service in support of fellow Akans as head of management in the western region who perceived their unfortunate victim as a sympathizer of the ruling NDC party simply because he is a northerner.It is therefore not out of place for the learned Professor Steven Addai to accuse the Mahama Government of nepotism.I fully agree the Mahama government indulge in crony capitalism and nepotism despite being a social democratic government.Where i disagree is the impression that the act of crony capitalism and nepotism with attendant corruption favor mainly northerners.That is palpably false based on what is happening in the Ghana Health Service under the current Director General Ebenezah Appiah Denkyira who is pursuing,persecuting and victimizing ewes and northerners to a large scale in that organization.In deed there were numerous letters to the Presidency at Flagstaff House complaining about tribal and political persecution in the Ghana Health Service all to no avail.Any discerning mind will abhor high profile appointments to public institutions on the bases of ethnicity or political ties rather than competence.But when corruption and nepotism inform some of these appointments you will always have the situation we have in the Ghana Health Service with all the attendant problems such as irrational dismissals through arbitrarily application of power in the most ingenious manner.I am not sure if the constitution or Labour Act makes provisions for the dismissal of a doctor on suspicion of a mental illness particularly if he was challenged and cleared as normal on the bases of the same charge by the same organization.Unfortunately these are some of the reckless acts of corruption with impunity the Mahama Government is keen to cover up rather than investigate and punish perpetrators simply because they are high profile persons with ties to the seat of power.When the victim of corruption then press for justice ,you find government functionaries and so-called party foot soldiers engaging in deliberate smear campaign against the victim of corruption punished on the bases of speaking against same to cover up for failed governance structures and systems that are largely weak and corruption prone instead of tackling the substantive corruption or illegality.If the AG Department who are literally the legal representatives of government will go to court to defend an overt case of corruption bothering on gross human rights abuse and indeed engage in acts of subversion and oppression in the interest obviously corrupt top public officials,then one can safely conclude the government indeed condone and connive in corruption.It is remarkable that there hasn't been any attempt by the AG to investigate the GHS hierarchy on a clear case of corruption and abuse of office bothering on illegal dismiss other than tentative acts to cover the rot and deprive the victim of justice.One thing is clear,the PNDC and NDC 1 under Jerry Rawlings were hugely popular because of its anti-corruption stance in the interest of the poor and oppressed.Same cannot be said of the Mahama Government particularly if the same yardstick of accusations of corruption under the Kuffour Government ushered in late President Mills.There is no doubt the ruling government have a tainted image on issues of corruption that is making it lose its popular appeal with the poor masses that identify with the NDC because of its Revolutionary PNDC antecedence that was by large an anti-corruption force that stood for the poor masses.I will mince no word in my judgement that should the Mahama Administration lose in December 2016,it is largely because of mass corruption and open display of opulence to the chagrin of the suffering masses.The President himself will not appreciate this because he is largely surrounded by sycophants and praise singers who create a false sense of security only to lead him into the abyss for their selfish personal gains as usual.HARD TRUTH.
