A thief is a thief like dead goat and must be condemned. When the system is robust and resilient like the developed countries, I agree a thief can still be president. The unfortunate situation of Ghana is that the ystem is not functioning and has been given to a thief by fools to improve or strengthen. Not possible now Kan Dapaah! Dead goat must be voted out and human beings brought in to build the system, after which we try a smaller thief and not a genetically heartless thief like dramani. If we are sure the system is ok, then anybody can become president and thieves like dead goat will be caught and caponized. Currently a thief cannot build a thief resistant system. A good example is the Woyome Alfred Agbesi case that the Attorney General is confused and the NDC thieves are in jubilation.

When it comes to the subject of corruption, let me state without any equivocation that, some within your own political fraternity, wrote the book! Aside being a former privy councillor, you have also served as the Chairman of PAC, where you displayed 'naked' partisanship with the likes of Agyeman Manu and Kwame Asiamah, two colleagues from your side of the aisle, rather making sure that this special political arrangement worked to produce the desired result - which is guarding the public purse!
And are you being sincere with Ghanaians and yourself, when you single out a President for needless attention, given the vast expanse of the machinery of government we run in this country? Did your name, and that of an individual, who serve as your deputy in the Energy Ministry, not feature prominently in the 'Drillship' saga? Please do not hide in your new found Ivory or Bronze Tower sinecure, and engage in 'stealth' and petty politics; because when most of you sanctimonious political operatives are subjected to a proper 'litmus test', you'll all fail miserably!

Let's go back in time to the era of Mr Kan Dapaah to scrutinise the Auditor General's Reports. Stealing of public funds took place; how many prosecutions did we have? If we keep interfering in the institutions created by the Constitution,like it's happening now with the Electoral Commission,do we sincerely have any moral grounds to complain?

It did not have to take this long and being in Opposition to get him to worry about others taking advantage of the loopholes to milk the State. The Constitution was the same then and now.

We all know that when Politicians are not part of an incumbent Regime, they tend to be more scrupulous in examining what the Government is doing, easily identify corruption in the Government. But when they are part of the Government, they just let the status quo stay as it is.

If Kan-Dapaah is seriously concerned about curbing Corruption by tackling any Constitutional defects that allow such to thrive in our Government, he must boldly take up the task of pressuring his Colleagues in Parliament and his flagbearer to work together to effect that change.

Many of us have long known of those defects and complained about them but no one in relevant positions to effect any change seems to care.

Surely, we should not mandate that the President appoints his or her Cabinet from among the Parliament, and if the President so chooses, a bye Election would have to be promptly held in the affected constituency that the MP hails from to replace him or her.

Secondly, I agree that our Institutions that are supposed to control Government spending and enforce accountability ought to be fully autonomous, and the Auditors General and other Civil Servants responsible for the duties assigned to those Institutions must be appointed by the Civil Service Commission and not subject to any interference by the Executive.

Besides, the accountability system must be layered to make it possible for one section to verify or query the performance of the others.

If we look at the way the USA system works, it makes mockery of ours. And the continued existence of our System as it is renders our Capitalist Democracy less effective and vulnerable to corruption and oligarchical dominance.

I am glad, however, that my former Secondary School senior, Kan-Dapaah, now acknowledges these gaping flaws in our system. Knowing the flaws exist but doing nothing to fix them only exposes us all to global ridicule, and denies us any justification to request for Finacial Aid from abroad.

We are people who do not ask questions, we do not know when to say "No"(enough is enough) We do not challenge ourselves and authority, that is why everything remains the same, no change in the culture even if certain conditions change.
Some of the questions we need t ask are:
Why is the land and its gold for one man and can do as he pleases with it?(no room for waterways, schools, parks and gardens, etc)
What changes are needed in our culture to bring unity and improve our children's future?
What is the total interest do we pay on our debts and does it make sense for us to continue in that direction(borrow and build)?
Some parties are giving cars and cash to some people, they are spending big time on this elections(where is the money from)?
How does gov. choose who gets what contract? etc.
We the citizens must ask such questions and demand answers.
We are third world because we do not ask questions, our leaders can do what they want and that is why (some people are simply, above the law)
