There is a huge difference between Asanteman and Ashanti Region. Matters involving Asanteman fall into the realm of ethnic interests, rather than wider secular interests of all folks in Ashanti, for example.
Such subtle appeal to ethnic sentiments by Akufo-Addo is one glaring sign he is wired in bigotry, given his past record on Electioneering campaigns.
So, those folks who accused Prez. Mahama for soliciting votes from Northerners as being tribalistic, must take a hard look at this call by Akufo-Addo and tell us what it is.
There may be a difficulty among those who cling on to the Old ways of doing things, and see our lives as mostly determined by where we come from, rather than what we do. But such is what we need to move away from, if we ever hope to build Ghana as a unified country with shared hopes and aspirations and equal opportunities for all.

We have always used the term 'Northerners' to apply to all Citizens living beyond Brong Ahafo Region, northwards. But there are 3 Regions in that area, Upper West, Upper East, and Northern Region, each of which is inhabited by natives of many different tribes, plus other Ghanaians originally from elsewhere who happen to make those Regions their home, temporary or otherwise.
So, you tell us which of the two leaders appealing to 'Northerners' or 'Asanteman', respectively, could be more likely tribalistic to deserve the kind of insults you folks unleashed upon Prez. Mahama?
All I wanted to point out is that you have to be fair in your fault-finding, and use the same measuring rod in assessing the attitude of the various Political candidates.
The common observation I have made on our Electioneering campaigns is that the followers of Akufo-Addo, in particular, are wont to claim that he is infallible and without blemish, and everything he says or does is sacrosanct, while all others are agents of Satan. And when he is caught to have acted or said anything untoward that others earn your insults for, you still spin to exclude him from blame.
It is that level of hypocrisy which has always contributed to Akufo-Addo being unattractive to many Ghanaians as a Presidential candidate. Then, when anyone dares to point that hypocrisy out, his supporters, like you, would jump to rain insults on that person--yet another sign of intolerance within his circles that many Ghanaians have always faulted him for.
With this simple explanation, I would love to keep my ignorance rather than try to adopt anything from your faux omniscience.
