PRESIDENT SHOULD ACCEPT WORTHY FOREIGN INVESTORS INTO GHANA
The call by the President inviting foreign investors to come to invest in the country is a welcomed one. Foreign capital is very much required during this period of our history when the rate of unemployment has been high with many of the youth’s energy needed to build the nation is being wasted. The Government should tap into the available good brains to look at the various options to quicken the economic recovery for job creation and growth. There is likely to be trade offs and note should be taken that in every endeavor there are advantages and disadvantages. If the advantages outweighs then that proposal is worth pursuing. There is therefore no perfect system.
As we invite foreign investments Government should also be emphatic about abuse of human rights of our people because some of these foreign investors tend to look at the jobs offered to our people as favours being done them. The President is an epitome of the fight for human rights so abuse of human rights should not be entertained during the regime of President Nana Addo. We cannot be beggars in our country as a result of mismanagement of the nation’s resources. I can promise members of the NDC that coming to power in the next four years will be a very daunting task as long as some of us are around. I believe they have caused so much harm to the people of Ghana and this will be put at the front burner at all times they make attempt at the presidency.
The abuse of human rights by foreign investors reminds me of FBNBank Ghana,a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigerian (FBN). It is important for the people of Ghana to understand the motivation of this abuse and I will provide an in depth analysis of this. This bank entered Ghana through the acquisition of International Commercial Bank (ICB), owned by a single Malaysian investor by private placement. I recall this acquisition generated much debate with FranklinCudjoe’s IMANI Ghana leading the charge against the acquisition. It was initially thought the state through the Government has shares in it which turned out not to be so. As part of the acquisition FBN sent officials from Nigeria to engage the Malaysians and also had the opportunity to review the books. ICB had subsidiaries across Africa and other parts of the world but the Nigerians were interested in their West African business. The review was done before the purchase price was finally paid but FBN realized after the final take over that some of the assets of the bank were over priced. This however dawned on them that there was no value for money and that they were short changed.
The integration team from Nigeria on their part promised to offer the same conditions of service to their Ghanaian counterparts as it pertained in Nigeria but after gaining their loyalty, the Nigerians did not only make a U-turn but adopted a scheme to lay off some section of the staffs. This was obviously done to cut down their loses on the acquisition so they chose those staffs aged between 50 and 59 years made up of management and unionized staffs with the emphasis on management members. The CEO and the Head of Human Resource sought approval from the board to undertake this action which approval was granted. Having realized the bank can be charged of discrimination they agreed all the unionized employees were qualified to apply for the package with a caveat that the bank had the option to either accept or reject the application from the unionized employees for a scheme they say was voluntary. It is worth noting that the bank has a subsisting condition of service agreement it has signed with UNICOF and ICU of the TUC on behalf of the unionized employees but this was ignored. The bank knowing they were doing the wrong thing got some officials of the mother union compromised so that they will not raise any issue. The package was to offer a ridiculous financial reward to those who will retire voluntarily before age 60 years (that is between 50 and 59 years) when they will qualify for SSNIT pensions, Tier two pensions and an internal Provident Fund Scheme. According to the bank the package was to offer an opportunity to the affected staffs to gain something additional to the above mentioned benefits.
Prior to introducing the package the CEO has targeted certain people within this age bracket so he adopted human rights abuse and anti labour practices like insults, humiliation, threats to force the people to apply for the package and there are tape recordings of these things.
Unfortunately, the CEO (a Nigerian) used the Head of Human Resource Manager (a Ghanaian) as the front man to execute this dastard act on the employees. After getting the approval of the board, the Human Resource Manager (HRM) deliberately decided not to inform the unionized employees because they were not their primary targets and this has been admitted in the bank’s Affidavit to the courts. The matter is currently before the Commercial and Labour division of the courts for determination, initiated by those who felt unjustifiably treated.
A reading of the extracts of the board minutes and the affidavit of the bank raises some interesting concerns which I am not going to discuss except to say that the HRM said in the affidavit that the package was to reward those staffs who apply for the package. I wish to put it to him that it is a lie. The reason for the package has been given in the board extracts but be that it may, the bank knows that package will save it from further expenditure by its contribution to the SSNIT pensions, Tier Two pension and the Provident Fund in addition to the payment of the salaries and allowances of these people till age 60 years when they qualify for compulsory retirement. Even if one does time value for money computation, the bank will benefit from the early exit of these people. I want the HRM to know that our laws have the Letter and the Spirit and he cannot use English to wave his way through this dastard and inhuman treatment to people who worked most part of their lives for the bank to get where it has reached. Will he be happy if he was treated the same? I can bet that he will not dare provide some of the statements in the affidavit if he was invited to the deity or shrine because they are lies.
Apart from the matter before the courts currently, the bank stand accused of abuse of human rights in another instance and that matter may end up in the court. The bank has envisaged per their original program, according to the integration team to be among the top four in the country after two years operation in Ghana but I can say for sure that it is not among the first twenty as we speak now. Spiritually the bank have offended people who may not be saying good things about it and one can be assured that if it is so its operation in Ghana will be a failure. They may have to settle for marginal performance whiles others which are relatively younger make giant strides. It will be in their interest to do justice to those they have offended and ask for forgiveness otherwise they may eventually find themselves frustrated and pack off. This is a gratuitous advice I am offering to them. ICB/FBNBank Ghana has been in the banking environment for about twenty years but its impact is nothing to write home about when compared to the new banks coming on the scene. There is always a problem with good will in this bank.
It is becoming a common feature of Nigerian investors in Ghana to have a brush with the law. Access Bank another Nigerian bank recently lost a case against ex-employees in the court. These are signals to the authorities in the country to be circumspect when dealing with investors from our neighbors. But someone will ask how many of these investors have had problems with their Ghanaian host? I will admit there are bad nuts everywhere but the singular problem that runs through these cases is human rights abuse. We also know other issues which some of these foreigners are involved in so we need to be cautious in our dealings.

EFFORTS TO SAVE PUBLIC PURSE TO ENGENDER GOOD MANAGEMENT
There are several calls from all over the country for the in coming administration to do one thing or another. This alone is an indication there are many unsatisfied needs of the citizenry and this could account for the dismal performance of the Mahama led administration in the election. There was so much propaganda and lies by those close to the presidency which kept the President think he was doing well. Sycophancy is destructive. All these people have used the President to accumulate wealth for themselves which they are going to live on. You cannot begrudge them. Some of us kept telling the President that he was incompetent and if he had listened to us for a moment he would have avoided the shameful defeat and he will go down the history of the nation as a one term President with heavy defeat. A good leader is one who is firm and fair and I must also add that his scraping of the Monitoring and Evaluation office at the Presidency headed by Dr Tony Aidoo also aggravated his predicament. His predecessor was apt with the creation of that office but the sycophants around him or his self intended action to avoid the criticisms of Dr Tony Aidoo has brought him down heavily. I only hope that he will learn good lessons from his shameful defeat and he should not dare get close to the Presidency as it is being hinted by some of his followers in 2020 because we shall cause him bigger damage.
As face saving measure some spokesmen of the NDC are alluding that the election result is not the true reflection of the people’s will on December 7. They claim there are pieces of evidence that suggest there were problems with the numbers. What I have come to learn about life is that people hide behind general statements to tell lies.. We are challenging these people to come out with the specific problems which affected the numbers in their views for discussion. This is a face saving measure being adopted by the NDC to confuse their disappointed followers and Ghanaians in general to say that the victory of the NPP was not genuine. There are rumours making the rounds already that the NDC lost based on a compromise between them and the NPP. Unfortunately there are people who believe this story and these people are always their target audience.
The committee formed to solicit views on the cause of their loss will not get anything new aside the already known reasons. It is just waste of time and resources as they are always known for. These resources can be used profitably in favour of the several under privileged in the society. If they are still not convinced about their poor performance in government and their subsequent disgraceful defeat then this team is not competent enough to manage this country in future because they governed without their ears on the ground.
The only word on the tongue of communicators of the party is infrastructure. Where isOmaneBoamah and the rest? They have reduced the management of the country to the provision of infrastructure and nothing else. The unfortunate aspect of this narrative is the deliberate exclusion of the heavy indebtedness of the country and the level of resources available to them. Which average person cannot build infrastructure with the huge resources available to this President and his Government? What has been his achievements prior to becoming to President? Expending heavily on gargantuan infrastructure is no achievement and I can assure him that given the resources available to him any average person will do more than he has done. For me, I see the President not having good appreciation of administration of a country. They have tried woefully sometimes to compare to Osagyefo Nkrumah who has done so much with a comparatively smaller resources. Aside the achievements of Osagyefo with little resources he was not corrupt and was a true nationalist who never thought about families and friends. Apart from the infrastructure President Mahamawanted to be remembered for, he will also be remembered for as the President who committed the country to heavy debt, corruption and sectionalism. He and his followers should take back seat and watch better administration of the country. This will not be reduced to building infrastructure beyond the accepted cost.
One major concern as the current Presidenttakes office is the reduction of waste, mismanagement, corruption and the avoidance of incompetence in governance and public office. Unfortunately very important national resources have been wasted in the past through these means which has not been helpful for the country. If the new President can save this country of the huge amounts wasted through these means, there will be enough resources available for national development. Frantic efforts need to be put in place to block the loopholes and to ensure that every resource that is required for the development of the country is harvested than to rely on the lazy means of raising resources for the country. Communicators of the defeated NDC are always alluding to the promises by the current administration to relieve the people of the adverse impact of the mismanagement of the previous which any competent leader will seek to do. Some of these things are not difficult to achieve in the short and medium terms and there are examples in the world. In the same way the in coming administration wants to offer efficient and effective services to the people, it will also be fair that the people of Ghana also reciprocate these good gestures by playing their parts. These will be the areas the new administration will work at. Competence in every facet of life is also about doing the things which are important to do and avoiding things which are not good to be done. Ghanaians will have a feeling of better administration of the country which will reflect in their lives. Better living conditions will be provided by the in coming administration, many of the promises which are made will be affected to make the lives of the people better than we lived under the NDC.Governance is not about borrowing heavily and building physical infrastructure as I have mentioned previously. Any government which has concentrated so much on infrastructure to the neglect of good economic condition has been short sighted and does that because of corruption through over pricing of contracts which the NDC Government can be credited with.
One area which has caught my attention has been bribery especially on the part of the Police Service. I have always asked what makes police personnel in African and Ghana in particular take bribe from drivers. This is not existent in the developed countries. I know of a police lady who lives in the same house who always come home with plenty of GHS 1 notes. She has even mentioned to someone that she does not spend her salary for the month. It is time for us to find out what makes it convenient for the personnel in the Service to extort money from the driving public particularly the commercial segment. My belief on this matter is that the personnel are playing on the ignorance of mostly the commercial drivers who are usually less discerning. This challenge can be resolved to a large extent when the state demand these segment to get apprised with the traffic regulations which are very important. An enlightened population is a well informed population, educating the commercial drivers about the traffic rules will reduce the demand of bribes by the police personnel. The Road Safety Commission and the DVLA should be tasked to develop a program to educate commercial drivers especially and it should be mandatory. This can also help reduce the spate of vehicular accidents. Certificates or notes should be issued to them and it should be an annual program as it is with road worthiness and insurance and it should be part of the documents to be inspected by the MTTU officials on routine checks on the road. In the light of the foregoing I want to know if the police service has resumed checking insurance and road worthiness notes because just before the elections this activity of the police was suspended.
Government should seriously consider making the ECG convert all post paid meters to prepaid ones in all or most houses in urban areas where the consumption of electricity is high. The failure of the previous Government to ensure the successful implementation of this policy has caused huge debt by Government to the company. Employees of the company should be up and doing, they should adopt the practice of making unannounced visits to communities to expose households who are engaged in illegal connections for prosecution. Employees should take field visits very seriously if they want the company to remain under the management of Ghanaians or remain in the control of the state. The same applies to GWCL. The corruption in these companies and all other state companies should be halted. There is a house in Fish Pond which commercializes water but I am told there is no meter installed in that place. It appears also that the operator of the facility does not even pay for the water. This house is along the Yoryie Lane I am told and there are two giant water tanks in the house. I want to encourage officials of GWCL to follow up on this matter to ascertain the truth and to ensure the right thing is done.
The Auditor General’s report is a very important area Government should look at. The level of waste and corruption which are reported on are mind boggling. Corrupt officials should start being held accountable for the wrongs they engaged in. Every area where waste and corruption are taking place should engage our attention as a nation. Ghana should be made to work again for the benefit of the current and generations unborn.Matters of corruption should not be limited to political but it should cover the whole pubic sector. The country is running a liberal private sector so Government should encourage a vibrant one and this will also limit corruption in the private sector as well.
Last but not the least on this subject I wish to suggest to the Government to carry out review of all the sources of the country’s revenue to ensure that they are consolidated and the loopholes are sealed with the introduction of controls to cease or reduce the leakages to enable the country generate adequate resources to carry out all the laudable programs and projects.

THE PRESIDENT NEED TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE ORDINARY MAN AND GOVERNMENT
After the just ended elections I have started looking at the next election because I have made a commitment to the President to help him succeed during his tenure. Like I have said before I will offer suggestions and also be willing to go to the field to work rather than limiting myself to the office. The appointment of ministers is very necessary but I consider this as bureaucratic looking at the nature of our society. Down the pyramid of society’s need is the physiological need according to Maslow. There are a great number of people who desire this need. We usually describe these people as the ordinary people on the street in our every day discussions. Meeting the needs of these people and others on the pyramid as we go up is very critical. It is because elections are about numbers and the vote of this ordinary person carries the same weight as the vote of the lecturer in the university. In all these discussions the question should be asked what are these physiological needs. Are the various Ministers and the President, judging from the level they occupy able to discern these needs? The answer in my view is no. For this reason I will like to suggest to the President to bridge the gap between these people and the high political office holders otherwise the President will suffer the same or similar fate as the just out gone President. Many if not all of the past Presidents have good intentions to meet the expectation of the citizenry but they are not told the truth by the various ministers about conditions on the ground. They become aware of the disenchantments later when it is late and may be heading out of government. Bridging this gap can be done by various ways but I will not proffer my best and most appropriate way in this article.
I want to use this platform again to advise the President that we have seen in the past very brilliant academics who have failed in their professional endeavours and we have also seen bad academics who have been extremely successful in their chosen professional fields. We all are saying the people the President has chosen as ministers are good but we should not forget that some of these people have been in the Government of Ex-President Kufuor before. The Ex-President’s Government was not spared of criticisms by the same Ghanaians who have just elected Nana Addo to the extent that they voted otherwise for the NDC after his full tenure. I have even heard one lawyer Ace Ankomah described the performance of Ex-President’s Government as very poor during its second term in office. All I am trying to drive at is that the personalities forming a government are as equally important as the structure of that government regarding the linkage it has with the grass root. I believe there are lots of knowledge about this issue and I want the President to do effectiveoverall supervision. I can sense the hunger for power by the biggest opposition and they will do everything within their means to want to reclaim it. But it will be impossible for them if the current Government play its card well so that renewing the mandate in 2020 will be a done deal.
As we speak now there are under current of dissatisfaction among some members of the NPP who think they have been ignored in the President’s appointment. I have said before that many people really worked for this victory but not everyone will get political appointment so it is up to the President to handle the matter maturely to calm down emotions. I want to suggest that team work is demanded from everybody and people should be offered some role to play. It will be very dangerous for the President to ignore this development because I can surely stick my neck out that his two electoral losses were due to ineffective party work but this time round he has benefitted from the good suggestions of party sympathizers including my good self. Appointments should not be limited only to ministerial but there should be a wider consideration of roles which people should play. People have sacrificed in their small ways to realize this great feat which has never happened in the political history of Ghana. I am not a card bearing member of the NPP but I felt under the circumstance, believed to be divine to offer my widows mite to his efforts. I am grateful to God but I want to say that I am interested in the presidency myself in future but it will be at the direction of God like it occurred to David as a mere shepherd.
I am constrained to say what I am about to say but having come out from a period of fasting and prayers there is pressure inside me do it. I have never wanted to do this prior to this day. From the time of Ex-President Kufuor’s presidency, I have had a hand in every change of government. Mine is not only spiritual but also insight from God to write and this has been acknowledged in one of the teachings of Pastor Mensa Otabil. The coming into power by former President Kufuor through to Ex-President Mahama, I have been working in the bank but in the case of President Nana AddoDankwaAkufo-Addo I have to lose my job in a bizarre circumstance and I was told in a dream that I can get back to work only after the elections. In fact late President Mills would have lost his second term but Ex-President Mahamacame to give the NDC a second term as a party. The election of President Nana Addo was going to be a very difficult one so God had to do something different. The Ex-President was a sitting president, resources were scarce for Nana to prosecute his election agenda, there was huge incumbency advantage against him, tempers were very high in this election than ever before and Ghanaians were going to live through a very difficult economic condition if NDC wins the election. The Almighty had to do something different this time so the prophesy by Bishop OwusuBempah was also given to some of us but we did not have the courage to make it public.God had to use someone as a sacrifice to do this different thing. It will surprise those who knew me whiles I was working to see me today; I have grown so lean that one will think I am sick. I had to fast most of the times and after that I did not have money to take care of myself. The wide margin in the result between the two leading was the design of work to avoid any dispute so when people were saying the concession by Ex-President Mahama should be commended, I have said there was no alternative.
I am hoping to get back to work if the Government do appreciate our efforts and will also assist us in this regard. Nobody solicited for our assistance but we were impressed upon by divine source to avail our assets to the course of the presidential candidate’s efforts. I know that with his reliance on God the President will succeed in his quest to give this country an exemplary leadership.

THE MISMANAGEMENT OF THE NDC GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE COMMOTION
We have short memories as human beings to various degrees so the current developments whereby the Invisible Forces are being accused of seizing all manner of things can easily be put at the door steps of the NPP alone. This is not the first time power has changed hands from one political administration to the other but it is easy to remember the current development because of short memories and the ability of time to heal wounds. I will not equalize events but we should stop this ostrich attitude in this country and begin to deal with our problems squarely and transparently. The Majority Leader in Parliament has mentioned this few days ago. No well meaning person will endorse what is currently happening and it is said two wrongs don’t make right but one will ask ‘’how was the situation dealt with when it first happened?’’. We have not acted with the kind of dispatch a serious democratic country should have except the talking. I hate talking and the Bible admonishes us to do it with moderation rather than listening.
Communicators of the NDC should by now know that the kind of administration they have offered this country has contributed significantly to these developments. The state of this country at the time they left it juxtaposed against the amount of revenue available to them is a matter of serious concern. The excruciating poverty and hunger they led majority of Ghanaians through cannot be forgiven. The rush to take over national properties of economic value at this time was created by them. What are they expecting from people who have starved for almost 4 years against others who have been allowed access to resources to live well. This is the underlying reason for what we are seeing today. If I also had the opportunity I would have joined this Invisible Forces to arrogate to myself some sources of income.
The attempt to draw the President into this development has been unfortunate and it smacks of a desperate people who must try very hard to smear him of something considered disadvantageous they have laid the foundation for. Why are they not calling on the Police Service which is mandated by the Constitution to deal with situations like this? Is the President bigger than the Constitution which he is subjected to? Or is someone preventing the Police Service from performing the function assigned by the people of Ghana? We are always saying Institutions must be allowed to work so why not now? I feel sad for the NDC as a party but they deserve the situation they find themselves in today. Their arrogance and recalcitrant stance are paying them today. They should leave the President alone; he has more important things to do for Ghanaians who are eager to see their living conditions improved.
The Ex-President and the NDC supervised the collapse of the private sector which could have absorbed most of these people calling themselves as Invisible Forces if there were jobs to engage them and it would not have been necessary for them to be seizing national assets. Anytime the issue on the precarious employment situation was mentioned the Government came out to say they have created jobs. He who fights and run away live to fight another day, they say. The jobs they claim they have created were for their followers only. What about those who are Ghanaians but do not follow them? What is happening should be an advice to everybody and like the Bible puts it in Proverbs, there is time for everything.
I also need job and wished I could join this Force but considering my background in banking and a product of the former School of Administration, Legon with Accounting qualification I morally do not find myself suitable to engage in taking by force national asset. I want to make some suggestion to the leadership of the NPP especially the President who is the leader if I understand the structure of the party. Many people contributed to winning political power from the incumbent NDC but not everybody will be rewarded with position in Government. The truth should be told that many people who are obviously not family and friends of the NDC members lived under very difficult condition due to lack of jobs and the spate of seizures are happening because of this. It will not be very easy for Government to create the jobs the party promised immediately like three months from now. For this reason I wish to suggest that leaders of the party should put into place some stop gap measures to alleviate the suffering of these party people until the expected jobs begin to materialize to integrate them into work. The stop gap I have in mind is for those placed in positions to contribute to a temporary fund to cater for some of these people who are in very bad situations. Leadership is about sacrifice and by that we can win the loyalty of our followers at all times. I know there are people who find themselves on the same side like me but someone has to talk on their behalf.
The NDC knowing they were leaving power had to use the back door to put their people into work. Having done this to these people the NDC will continue to have the loyalty of those involved. What will NPP do for their people who have lived almost four years under excruciating living condition to also gain their loyalty? The strong desire by members of the NDC to see current Government fail and the anti positions they have adopted will require an equally motivated people on the side of Government and the party to pull along Ghanaians so that it does not become a difficult task to renew its mandate.
It is time we are forward thinking and not be sectional as President Mahama was. All the current problems were created by him so they should live with it. The NDC is a group of people who are very wicked to kill or willing to kill for the sake of politics. The stories which have gone round during and after the elections are testimonies to this. If given the chance by the NPP, this party will take some time to taste political power again in this country, to assert the point that I am the best strategist in the whole world. People should not belittle this statement.

NDC COMMUNICATORS DON’T HAVE CITIZEN’S INTEREST AT HEART
No serious government desirous of providing jobs for the country will rely mostly on the public sector. The trend has been to shift the emphasis to rather the private sector and this can be determined from the records since the time of the Structural Adjustment Program in the nineties. The numbers show that the public sector has been on a downward movement but it is surprising a government of the NDC say the public sector should be the main source of job provision. How can a government facilitate job creation when the supply of power is taken for granted? Most of the jobs created by the previous administration were made available to friends, families and party foot soldiers. I cant remember for once seeing a publication by Government on job openings but they have data on the segment of the population who are their friends to whom jobs are allocated. They were unable to offer all these people jobs but they were able to provide them money to keep them afloat. As the Government was exiting power and it was not possible anymore to find that cheap money for these people, they had to push them into places during the transition period to secure them. It is not difficult whatsoever to find out all these people through several ways. One is to determine when their social security payments began as long as they have been incorporated into the payroll of their employers. I had the opportunity to join the ranks of the friends of the NDC but I turned down the offer having been unemployed for the past sixteen (16) months. If I had done that all the articles I have chosen to write to the promotion of the NPP and its flag bearer would have been lost. This decision was a spiritual one because I cannot actually tell what came over me to take this path. I have worked in the bank for more than two decades and had to resign my current job because of disagreement on human right for which I am prepared to sue the bank as soon as I am able to afford the legal cost. And I can only do this if I start to earn some income from work. Furtherance to this I want to appeal to the current administration to look beyond their known members and extend a hand to those who believe in their vision to come on board. The Constitution does not mandate every Ghanaian to belong to political parties for obvious reasons. Those of us who are capable of contributing to the success of this administration but are not in the position to lobby or are introverts should be welcomed into the fold.
The issue of the former President’s accommodation should not be looked at from an emotional perspective. The reason we make laws is to ensure order in our society so I believe the law should be applied in settling the matter. This country will continue to have presidents after former President Mahama and if we are ready to do the same as a country to every president in future then let us go for it. The former President was elected and he cannot do anything on his own volition if that is not in agreement with the sovereign will of the people. The current administration should tell him in plain words that his request cannot be granted and that should settle the matter. The people from the NDC are just peeved by the loss of the elections and it is possible to determine that from their language but that should be their own cup of tea. It is also important that the laws we make should be explicit and not create room for absurdity upon which some people in the society try to exploit. I have observed on few occasions the process of debating in the house and I must say I am generally impressed. This is not to say that we cannot do better. Coming from a credit risk background, I wish to say that some of the laws need to be scrutinized further than parliament has done. On the basis of this the country has to look carefully at our processes to ascertain whether we cannot improve on our law making process. My observation of late is many of the laws passed by parliament have grey areas and these are exposed during implementation. A good example is the Transition Act which is quite recent. This law is too young to be calling for amendment which in my view reflects that thorough work was not done. The decision by an out going president deciding himself what he wants happened in the past but it is happening again. This does not show accountability and the ‘’scratch my back and I will scratch your back’’ must be amended in the Constitution and any subsidiary law. It appears those in politics are taken the juicy of the national cake and deciding to leave the remnants for the rest of society. This is an area someone can mobilize society for destabilization if quick action is not taken to address.
There is this common saying ‘’the wheel has already been invented’’ and that what anybody can do is to engage in differentiation which I believe is allowed. There are some major inventions or ideas which if copied and the originators are not acknowledged would be problematic. The English language for us has been adopted. How many antonyms and synonyms are available for each English word we know of? Even for these we are told they are not the same but are just similar.
The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of Current English defines plagiarize as ‘’ take and use somebody else’s ideas, words etc as if they were ones own.’’ This is what the communicators of the NDC have decided to dwell on in the most inspiring speech read by the President which is one of the best read by any politician in recent time. The several difficulties they and their leaders have created and left for the new administration to deal with is not their headache. Not crediting an idea to the originator is not a serious mistake than the difficult living condition a leader plunges its citizens into. It is in my view very shameful for these communicators to dwell on such a harmless mistake like this. Ghanaians should begin to assess the conduct and mentality of the NDC people from now and start making up their minds as to whether these group of people deserve to preside over their lives in the foreseeable future. To copy an idea in itself is not an offense but it the acknowledgement which is considered as not morally right. The decision to give an overwhelming endorsement to Nana Addo was not done by only core members of the NPP but most importantly by the discerning floating voters. This segment of our voting population are not swayed by this irrelevant matters but are looking at very concrete actions to resolve the many challenges our country faces most of which have been created by the past administration. It is therefore in the interest of the NDC and its communicators to take the people of Ghana very seriously. I hope that the 8 years cycle we have adopted in our politics may not automatically revert to them if some of us are around. I can identify three broad groups of voters in this country and it is up to a politically savvy person to join two of these to back any political party to win an elections and that is what I intend to do if the circumstance provides for in 2024. And I will do this if only the leadership of the NPP will agree with me when the time comes.
Everybody especially the NDC followers are complaining about the conduct of some NPP youths prior and after the inauguration of the new President. All or many of these people have been hungry because of lack of jobs which the NDC have deliberately created by killing the private sector. I used to be a stout person myself but it will surprise anyone who knows me to see how lean I have become. Having worked hard for their party to win the elections, these youths cannot wait anymore to live under the severe suffering they have lived under for the past 4 years. I don’t endorse the approach they have adopted but one can understand judging from their experiences.I even wish the new administration will immediately consider the plight of these youths and start putting into place measures to relieve them. Their circumstances have affected them to the extent their families have been torn apart due to ejections and disagreements. As I write now I am being ejected from my house because of unpaid rent and my family have relocated to other family members. This is the stark truth some people in this country have to go through whiles state resources are wasted through corruption and misapplication.

I received a verbal report from my nephews that a gentleman purporting to come from Ashaiman Divisional Council came to the house of my aged mother who is over ninety years of age inAshaiman nearthe Valco Flat on Tuesday January 10th, 2017 with invitation letters for the tenants to appear before the chief and elders of the Council on Thursday January 12th, 2017.
My nephews and a tenant responded to the invitation on the said date and the feed back I had was that they were asked how many tenants are in the house. I also learnt the documents to the house were demanded by the people. In response my nephews told them they have no knowledge of the documents to the house but they think their uncle can help with that demand. One other thing the people told my nephews was that they should never come to a chief’s palace with an empty hand. The people advised my nephews to inform me to come to the palace the following day Friday January 13th, 2017 with the house documents. I have not been in Accra during this period and my nephews have been aware but I was eager to know the concerns of these people so I told them to go back to the palace on the agreed date to inform them that I will appear before them when I return to Accra.
On showing up at the palace the following day with a bottle of schnapp, my nephews were asked about the money accompanying the drink. They also told my nephews that I must honour the invitation that day and thatthey will not accept any excuse and were told to leave the palace. Following these developments I requested that a copy of this invitation letter be faxed to me and I reproduce the content of the letter without editng as follows – ‘’I am directed by the Elders of the Divisional Council to invite you. The tenant occupying a room in House No E/348A at Freetown Ashaiman. To interact with the elders in Respect of an issue. You need to explain some issues to the chief and elders of the above mentioned council. You can come with any relevant documents to help you explain yourself.’’ The letter has been written on the letter head of Ashaiman Divisional Council (Ashaiman Stool) with the subject as Invitation. The date of the invitation was 12th January, 2017 (Thursday), Time - 2.00 pm, Venue – Valco Flat (Office of the Chief Ashaiman). The letter was signed by the Secretary. Below the signature was hand writing, NB: Please treat this as urgent as possible.
I wish to state that this country is governed by laws which bind all of us no matter ones social standing, even the President of the Republic. The 1992 Constitution guarantees Liberty for every citizen except on certain circumstances that this liberty can be denied. The decision by this council to order me unconditionally to honour an invitation without any prior notice especially when I am not in the jurisdiction of Accra was unacceptable. I am not a criminal and I have not committed any illegal act so the council must respect my rights guaranteed by the laws of the land.
I also think that the invitation extended was not to the landlord but to tenants and I thought my nephews should not have honoured it in the strict sense of the word but they did it out of respect for the Council and also without any advice from any matured person.
The invitation was not specific about the issues the invitees were to explain so as to know the relevant documents to carry along. It is therefore vague, in my view and I think the whole invitation was murky. I don’t want to say anything about the request for the house documents in this article but it will be dealt with at the appropriate forum.
Last but not the least I want to say it is our hope there is nothing untoward being done in respect of this house. The owner of the house is a lady who is over ninety years of age and who is paralysed and bed ridden for more than three decades in the house. The genesis of this house began before I entered the University of Ghana in the nineties. Demand for property rates by Tema Municipal Assembly have been placed on the landlord all this while and have been equally paid. The last of such demand in my custody came from Ashaiman Municipal Assembly which was also paid. Nobody has ever challenged the propriety of ownership of this house for over three decades so it is surprising for the Council to be asking for the document now. I don’t want to believe that this action is being carried out because of the rusty nature of the house.
I am willing and ready to appear before the Council to answer any related question when I return to Accra but I request that this is done properly and without any threat to my legal rights.
I also want to use this opportunity to inform everyone in this country that change of political leadership is not an occasion to exact actions which are against the laws of the land. Some of us were very instrumental in the change we are witnessing today but we don’t make loud noise about it. Communication has been a very important tool in social inter-independence and I am happy a lecturer from the University College of Education, Winneba was recently advising Government to regularly communicate with the citizens about its activities to carry them along and for its own good. Some of us did not mount any campaign platform but we used the tool of communication to win the hearts and minds of voters to vote the way they did to reflect a result which has never happened in the history of this country. We must therefore be circumspect in our actions because as we speak now and as the clock ticks the country is less than four years away fromanother election with the accompanying anxiety and apprehension. I rather expect those who wish the President and his Government well to be offering suggestionsto help them execute their manifesto promises. We believe in finding solutions to problems but not creating problems. In most of my writings I do offer useful suggestions to resolve challenges and that is what I intend to do to help the President’s administration to succeed.

THE PRIVATE SECTOR SHOULD BE RELIED UPON TO CREATE THE JOBS
The private sector has been known to be efficient and effective as compared to the public sector and this can mainly be attributed to attitude. Those who find themselves in the public sector cannot put up the same attitude in the private sector, because the private sector has been mainly driven by improving shareholder value. Any economy desirous of making strides has to adopt the private sector attitude. Aside profit maximization the private sector attends to matters with more professionalism which is often times missing in the public sector. Generally the public sector has more to copy from the private sector so it is important for the President to encourage a vibrant private sector.
Nobody will argue against the fact that the country needs foreign capital into the private sector to enable the country generates income and also provide more importantly the needed jobs required by the youths especially. Government needs income from corporate tax as well as PAYE tax from those Ghanaians who will be engaged by these companies. Aside these, the economic environment should be congenial for indigenes to go into businesses to generate income on which tax should be paid to Government for the provision of social services and goods. The issue of interest rates should be taken very seriously and the stabilization of our foreign currency should be one of the earliest things the economic management team should consider. As for inflation it is the product of the interplay of the economic forces so actions which will push inflation up should be avoided unless this can be offset by the outcome of the related action.
There is one sordid development I wish to remind ourselves of as I mention foreign investments into the country. Some investors hold the erroneous view that providing employment to our people is a guarantee to abuse their human rights. A few of these happened during the administration of the previous Government and I am a direct victim of this. This among other things actually incensed me to assist in pushing out the NDC Government and I am on record to have expressed my joy for their exit. The last Nigerian bank which located into the country has conducted itself in a condemnable business practice using a Ghanaian Human Resource Manager as the front man in executing this illegal act. Having realized they have entered into a bad private placement deal in the acquisition of ICB this Nigerian bank had to adopt a fraudulent scheme to cut down their loss. With the elections over now, this bank will soon be taken to the theatre to be fully operated upon. What this bank has done to Ghanaians cannot be done to Nigerians by any Ghanaian investor. We are a very quiet people by nature but we are very indomitable when the occasion offers itself to fight for our right. The Human Resource Manager who for selfish reasons decided to allow himself to be used in executing this illegality has a price to pay. We should not allow unscrupulous investors to come into our country and treat the citizens the way they like.
The promises of this Government are feasible and are not beyond realization. Communicators of the former administration and the out gone President were mediocre in thinking so believe these things are not achievable. The achievement of these laudable ideas is good for everybody in the country including foreigners, followers as well as family members of the NDC who may not have gotten the opportunity to benefit from their loot of the state coffers. It will also be good to them as well but be as it may, they have gathered enough resources to live on in case the living conditions they have created before leaving office continue same. The former President has really proved to be self centered and sectional and will go down the history of the country as the President who has left with excruciating poverty bestowed on majority of the Ghanaian people and it has actually reflected in the result of the past elections. There is so much anger in many people and it is due to his conduct as leader of the country. He cares little about complains of our people and does only what those close to him advise him to do.
As a March born myself, I know the current President will be selfless and be more listening as admonished by the Scriptures in Proverbs. With this attitude I have no doubt the President will succeed in his assignment. I have given my commitment to assist the Government to succeed and this will be done in several ways.
I did not want to talk about the appointments now because I believe they are good and I have left them for the future but one important one is the Monitoring and Evaluation Minister and the able person who has been assigned to handle that portfolio. Late Professor Mills did create such an office which was occupied by Dr. Tony Aidoo but former President Mahama scraped it because he does not know the importance of such an office. He took this action also because Tony was critical about certain developments in his Government and in order to silence him, he gave him an ambassadorial appointment. I can confidently say this is one of the reasons the NDC shamefully lost the elections. There is a common saying in our local parlance that the one who is constructing the road does not know how crooked the road is. There were lots of wisdom available for the NDC and the Ex-President to learn from but they were actually bent for failure so they ignored all these. I am happy for the current President and I will do well to direct many of my concerns to this office because the Minister cannot come down so low to the level of the ordinary person on the street so may not be able to know grassroots problems. I will say that in very large companies like banks and Honourable Yaw Osafo- Maafo as MD of Bank for Housing and Consructiondid create an Inspection Department aside the Internal Audit Department which report directly to management about findings at the branches. Their surprise visits to branches were never known to anybody even to the staffs of that department apart from the Head. During his tenure as the MD malfeasance in the bank were virtually non existent. He was one of the best MDs that was produced by the bank until its liquidation by NDC One regime led by Ex-President Rawlings, which was for a selfish motive actually. MD, I intend to visit you one of these days in your office after our fasting and prayers in the church. I will therefore be grateful to have your complimentary card posted to the address below as your endorsement, please.

Don't take the intelligence of Ghanaians for granted. How did Kennedy Agyepong got to know how much was involved in the so called rejected Christmas gift? I can't imagine how someone is able to tell how much a gift which was alleged to have been rejected is. I don't think accepting a Christmas gift amounts to bribery, because if it does then I don't think the President can be exonerated because H E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo can claim that he has never either given or accepted a Christmas gift in his entire life time. Remember, both the giver and taker of bribe are all guilty.

Who should believe this cock and bull story.
This story is a mere one just to brainwash Ghanaians in order to make Nana a saint in the eyes and minds of the people. What about the one car he callecred from car dealers and will later compensate them with three now that he is in power? UntilUntilthey are able to name and shame this so called company, no one is going to believe this story. Let the so called company come to defend or justify it's intention behind the gift. How can you fight corruption if you cannot expose the giver. There is no fact in this. It's just a story and should not be regarded.
