What we lack is brain deficit. Sometimes I wonder the kind of leaders we have in our country. I don't understand why a poor country like Ghana wants to behave like oil rich Saudi Arabia. Ghanaians wants everything for free including a place to ease themselves when nature calls. I understand giving free education but not when you want your kids to go to boarding school. Parents should pay for the boarding expenses. Now that you want to make every expenses free, who is going to be a day student? Top it off, teachers too wants teachers quarters. To me, pay teachers good wages and let them rent their own places instead of building teachers quarters, that is not even done in communist China. Day student shouldn't pay anything, that is how it is done in most part of the world, but if you want your kids to go boarding, at least you should pay for their accommodation and other expenses. Let's use the right side of our brains a bit.

My take on this is different,I will have gone about it in a different way first the so called grade a school I will hand the over to the original caretakers which is mostly belong to the church.As government I will take 50 % of the admission,30 by computer posting ,10% to the student where the school is place and 10% to good students from poor background.I will then leave the rest of the quota to the organization running the school.I will then use the bulk of the money to uplift the grade B and C schools in terms of infrastructure classroom blocks,libraries and teacher accomodation to the standard of the grade A.I will then select 1 school each month go there to inspire the student of the grade B and C school and take along with me people from disadvantaged background who have made it,not only coat professionals,but big time carpenters ,business men to encourage the student.

In the late 90s, the NDC was fully implementing the cash and carry hospital system and always oppose the health insurance scheme concept. They even went to the extent of detaining patients who could not afford to pay their hospital bills. It was the benevolence of the Catholic Church in Nkoranza that defied the strong resistance posed by the then NDC government to start the health insurance scheme. Later, when Kufuor came to power and laid the NHIS bill in parliament, all the NDC MPs walked out of parliament. After the NHIS law was passed, the NDC polluted the minds of Ghanaians that the NHIS does not work. Later, when the NDC realised that the NHIS was working to the admiration of all Ghanaians, they formulated another theory that it was the NDC government that started the NHIS on a pilot basis at Nkroaanza.
Now, after criticising the Free SHS in 2008 and 2012 and claiming that Free SHS is not possible, the NDC is now saying that Mahama laid a strong foundation for Free SHS. Fellow Ghanaians, you can now see how shallow minded Mahama and his NDC goons are. They are simply a bunch of thieves.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo must implement the Free SHS program as his government has decided. The cream of Ghana's wealth must be spent on education and health of citizens. Priorities must be reshuffled to give way to the success of this laudable government policy. The peace we enjoy in Ghana so far can be attributed in high measure to the free basic education program of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the 1960s. Education is the greatest light for the path of the children of Ghana and must take the largest chunk of our national cake. If poor Ghanaian folks sacrifice nearly every personal comfort to see their children get quality education then there is no reason why well-endowed Ghana cannot do the same. Our compatriots who believe this is impossible now are just looking at the other side of the coin but it is also true that than nothing good comes easy. Mr. President, rollout the Free SHS policy and iconize your government as well as realize your destiny. This is one of the biggest legacies from an African government. GOD BLESS.
