  This idiot who has been a tool in the hand of NDC all his life says what? Such an intellectually bankrupt stooge. We live in a tech age and any Ghanaian living outside the country can vote and if we could send ballot papers and boxes to your deepest village up north and my deepest village close to Togo border why not the other countries who mostly have better systems for delivering logistics. Such a fool still lives in the world of the past 10 plus years where the mindset is that nothing can be done. Stupid fool. If not party politics that has given your sorry ass some exposure what would you have been doing now???. Selling guinea fowl at Konkonba market? Illiterate punk.   If countries like Senegal have implemented their own version of the this law that allows every Senegalese outside their country the opportunity to exercise their franchise why can't we do it. I you don't have the idea to implement it, don't limit it to everyone. Ghana is supposed to be a role model for democracy and advancement for other African countries to emulate, but there are too many pessimists and nay Sayers within our mist and that turns to affect our efforts to advance in my ways. More than twenty five years ago before I migrated to the US, the Ivorians had their Taxi cabs equipped with taxi meters so it was easy for every non French speaking visitor to visit and also transact their businesses without a hinge, all you needed to do was to hand over your destination to the driver and relax, at the end of the journey, all you do is just handover your money to the driver. More than twenty five years down the road we in Ghana still bargain on a taxi fare like a second hand clothing market. What a shame!!! Ok what happens if for instance a Japanese or a Korean, Chinese, Brazilian or any non English speaking business executive or visitor decides to visit and transact a business in solely and low profile fashion? How is he going to get around town without hiring an interpreter? Again the Ivorians had a reliable advance municipal bus services called the Sotra in Abidjan and most of their cities. So it was quite easy for visitors to get around either French speaking or not. This helped to attract businessmen from around the globe which in turn propelled a growth in their hospitality and services sector of their economy. Hotels, restaurants, retailers and hosts of businesses were thriving because of these few reliable efforts. However the Ivorians did not have a sound footing in political and social aspects of their life as we are currently enjoying in Ghana. All I'm saying is that we Ghanaians have the factors and conducive atmosphere to help us do better if we can lay aside these tendencies of the unyielding pragmatism and pessimistic approach to do things.

  I found it difficult to understand the argument being raised by Monarh. I respect him as an educated person but when people such as he is cannot think outside the box, then it frustrates me for such people to think of leading my beloved country.
  My point is that where does he think the verification machine came from? The desire for voters to go to the pooling stations to cast their vote rest on the individual not with the politicians. I live in UK and and in London. If they put it in Edinburgh and I want to cast my vote, I will go there to vote. This law will help those of us outside Ghana to help change policies that are not good for Ghana. As far as I know, people outside Ghana have better experience that those at home. The president should Implement it. Secondly it is up to all the political parties to find their agents to represent them at polling stations not the EC nor the president. He should remember the saying that the Law is an ASS. |Long live Ghana

  This guy doesn't seem to have upgraded his education and intellect since leaving school, else he would have known that even before ROPAL some Ghanaians were casting their votes from outside the physical frontiers of the nation Ghana. Ghanaian Diplomats, workers of international organisations as UN, AU, ECOWAS, students with government scholarship have been voting in general elections since time immemorial, so what's the big deal extending it to other Ghanaians outside? Does he know that all serious Ghanaian political parties have branches in countries with sizeable Ghanaian population? If so, what would be the problem in finding party representatives as poling station agents?
  This guy should be told that we live in a fast moving technological world so he should upgrade himself and stop embarassing himself with such display of ignorance.
