Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

NDC HAS MILKED GHANA DRY: NDC guys are crooks. The other time Dr Apaak, a presidential staffer under Mahama, came out to claim that an amount of $5.9M was rather the cost of the new Veep Mansion. Then NDC Deputy Minority leader, James Klutse Avedzi, also said the amount is $5.0M. Now the NDC General Secretary is saying the amount is $3.5M. It is only the NPP that has remained consistent with $13.9 so far. It appears the NDC is not saying the truth. They are doing this to defend Thief Mahama at all cost. However, pressure mounted on the NDC has forced Allotey Jacobs, the NDC chairman for Central Region to admit guilt. He stated on Peace Fm that the fresh document from Consar on the cost of the project brings finality to the controversy surrounding the cost, adding that contesting the cost is impossible.“With what has come from Consar Limited, it is difficult to defend this issue. They are on the job and what they have put out settles the controversy surrounding the cost of the project. If Consar themselves have put out this information, then what do I have to say…nothing.” IT IS ONLY THIEVES WHO WILL ALWAYS DEFEND THEIR FELLOW THIEF AT THE PERIL OF THEIR LIVES.

NDC came to power on the back of Ya Na of Yendi when he was beheaded during Prez Kuffour's NPP government and that helped NDC to organize the Northern electorate against NPP and to provoke bitterness against the fraternity of ASHANTI and Dagboni. That was Rawlings idea to cause ethnic strive and tribal sentiments to promote NDC agenda and that worked but with massive corruption clouded on the NDC fora , it is going to be difficult for BDC to emerge into political scene again .Not until something really really happens but Akuffu Addo will defray that.
