Knowing very well how important the academics of our future leaders is and how detrimental any lapses in it would be, the Sam-Mark Ansah Ayernor-led administration of the Greater Accra Regional Students’ Representative Council would like to make a passionate appeal to Government, especially those directly in charge of education, to attend to the ongoing strike action immediately and be a bit more sensitive to the plight of our teachers.

It is no doubt that a strike action at this critical moment when continuing students are writing their terminal examinations and the “double” final year group are also preparing for their final examinations will do nothing but cause a lot of problems for the country as a whole. Let us not forget that the final exams is one organized for some West African countries and not just Ghana. This implies that should Ghana not be ready to make appropriate preparations for the examinations to take place, the other countries may proceed to write the examinations leaving Ghana behind.

We would also take advantage of this statement to humbly appeal to our dear teachers to abide by the National Labour Commission’s directive for them to return to the classrooms while negotiations proceed. For the national service personnel and responsible prefects who played a temporary role of teachers since the strike action, we would want to say “Ayekoo” to them and hope that even as the teachers return to the classrooms they will still support them in every way they can.

Meanwhile, we would like to urge all the final year students in all the Senior High Schools in the Greater Accra Region and beyond, to be of good conduct while they sit for the WASSCE and also wish them the best of luck.

All in the interest of High Schools Students.

Long live G.A.R.S.R.C, Long Live Ghana.
