Absa Bank Ghana commissions new Head Office; Absa Place

Absa Bank Ghana LTD has formally commissioned Absa Place, its new Head Office at 64 Independence Avenue, Ridge, Accra, marking a new chapter for an institution that has been part of Ghana’s financial sector for more than a century.

H.E. Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, commissioned the facility and urged Absa Bank Ghana LTD to use its longstanding presence in Ghana to expand financing to the economy.

She called for greater access to finance for women-owned businesses and young entrepreneurs, as well as practical financing solutions for agriculture, manufacturing and trade.

“The work undertaken here should translate into greater opportunities for Ghanaians, stronger support for our productive sector and a financial system that better serves the needs of a growing economy,” the Vice President said.

Board Chair of Absa Bank Ghana LTD, Mrs Frances Adu-Mante, said the new building was the fulfilment of a vision stretching back several years, when the Board and management considered the kind of Head Office the Bank would require for its next phase of growth.

“Absa Place is an investment that reflects our long-term commitment to Ghana and to supporting sustainable economic growth through a strong and inclusive financial sector,” Mrs Adu-Mante said.

Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana LTD, Dr Edward Nartey Botchway, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting its customers, businesses and Ghana’s economic ambitions.



“For over a century, we have had the privilege of being part of your stories. Absa Place marks a new chapter, but our commitment remains unchanged: to support your ambitions and help shape the stories of tomorrow,” Dr Botchway said. He further added, “We will be the bank that Ghana needs, not just the bank that Ghana has.”

The commissioning brought together government officials, regulators, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, clients, partners and staff of the Bank.

Absa Place provides a new corporate facility from which Absa Bank Ghana LTD will serve its numerous customers, support its colleagues and pursue its long-term commitment to Ghana’s financial sector and the wider economy.
