Airtel Ghana, multiple award winning company, has honoured its promise by presenting haberdashery and an educational scholarship to Mrs. Degbe and her two daughters, beneficiaries of the award-winning programme Airtel Touching Lives television series, season 3.

Mrs. Degbe, a widowed seamstress, featured on the third season of Airtel Touching Lives with her two brilliant daughters Ruth and Esther.

After losing her husband, Mrs. Degbe tirelessly strived to cater for her two girls as a single parent in the face of many challenges.

Airtel Ghana, through its Touching Lives series has intervened to empower and transform the lives of these women in fulfilment of its promise to make a change in the communities in which it operates.

The company presented two brand new electronic and manual sewing machines and fabrics that will greatly promote Mrs. Degbe’s sewing business.

Her two daughters were also awarded full educational scholarships to further their tertiary education.

Mrs. Degbe, receiving the prize said “I am grateful to Airtel Touching Lives for help and support. I never imagined my two daughters could further their education to the tertiary level but Airtel has made this a reality.

They have indeed touched our lives with this kind gesture. ” Mrs Degbe further expressed her joy in receiving her items.

Hannah Agbozo, Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs at Airtel Ghana said “A woman is the full circle, within her is the power to create, nurture and transform herself as well as people around her.

Mrs. Degbe has proved herself a full circle through the sacrifices she has made towards the betterment of her children’s future.

She is a true inspiration to all mothers, despite the challenges she faced she never gave up on her girls and sacrificed so much to see them through school.”

Airtel hopes to inspire and transform women in society by honouring unsung heroines like Mrs. Degbe.

Our commitment to empowering people to reach their full potential is seen in all we do be it in our CSR strategies or other telecommunication services.
