The Managing Director of BH Fertagro Gh. Ltd., Robert Kwabena Ayitey, has been adjudged the 2023 Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GNCCI) at the 4th edition of its prestigious Chamber Business Awards, held on Friday at the Accra International Conference Centre.

This was in recognition of Mr. Ayitey’s exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and massive transformation of BH Fertagro Gh. Ltd. into one of Ghana’s most trusted agricultural input dealerships.

The fertilizer company, which was celebrating its fifth anniversary on September 26, 2024, a day before the prestigious award event, also won the 'Agribusiness of the Year' award.

The distinguished annual Chamber Business Awards is a hallmark event celebrating outstanding businesses and individuals across Ghana who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, innovation, and sustainable business practices.

Since its inception, the awards have earned a reputation for their credibility, transparency, and integrity.

This year’s event, which was on the theme “Adaptability and Innovation in a Green Economy through Collaboration,” was held under the distinguished patronage of His Majesty, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, who was the special guest of honour.

The event also brought together industry leaders, professionals, and policymakers to honour outstanding achievements and discuss the future of sustainable business in Ghana.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Robert Kwabena Ayitey indicated that his only motivation for starting and driving BH Fertagro Gh. Ltd. was to provide quality but affordable agricultural inputs (fertilizers, seeds, and agronomy services) to help farmers get the best out of their cultivations.

He was, however, pleased that his approach, services, and results had received such prestigious national recognition in record time.

“Thank you, Ghana, for believing in young talents and giving us a chance to serve you better,” he said.

The 4th Chamber Business Awards also recognized BH Fertagro Gh. Ltd. as the “Agribusiness Company of the Year 2023.”

In its five years of operations, the company has remarkably deployed different formulations of high-quality fertilizer onto the market – a major impetus for strengthening climate-smart agricultural practices. It works through last-mile distributors and retailers across Ghana and within the West African Sub-region, especially in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo.

Earlier this year, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, BH Fertagro Ghana Ltd. donated over GHC90,000 worth of fertilizers and other assorted items to the Nsawam Prison Complex to support its farming and inmate maintenance efforts.

During the 2023 Akosombo Dam spillage, the company also presented over GHC100,000 worth of relief items to the people of Mepe, Bator, Sogakope, and its environs.

BH Fertagro Ghana Ltd. is a company licensed to import and trade in all kinds of fertilizer formulations for onward marketing to farmers through last-mile distributors and retailers across Ghana and within the West African Sub-region.

It was founded in the year 2019 with a vision to become Ghana’s most trusted and preferred Agric-input provider.
