Fievie Traditional Council Meeting Held 27/01/07 In Sogakope

Accra, Jan. 29 - The Fievie Traditional Council wishes to inform the General public that at its General meeting held in Sogakope on the 27th of January 2007, the Council took the following decisions;

1. That the Council has received information that, the Honourable Vice President Aliu Mahama will cut the sod to start the construction of the Sogakope Adidome Stretch of the Sogakope Ho Road

2. That one Abotsi Doe Diame who calls himself Togbe Avudzega Sogah a self styled chief of Sogakope plans to install the Vice President as a developmental chief of Sogakope as part of the sod cutting ceremony and given a stool name Avulekpor.

3. That the Fievie Traditional Council is totally against and will not accept the usurpation of its authority by a stranger (Avudzegah Sogah).

4. That Sogakope is part and parcel of the Fievie State (Traditional Area) and that the authority of the Fievie Traditional Council over Sogakope township has never been in dispute.

5. That for sometime now the said Abotsi Doe Diame has been parading himself as the Chief of Sogakope, which action has been reported to both the Security agencies and the District Assembly.

6. That it is ONLY the kingmakers of Fievie State who can ELECT, NOMINATE and INSTALL a person as Chief or headman of any of the Fievie towns, and the said Avedzega Sogah has not been installed as such.

7. That in any case, a sub chief cannot confer the title of a Development Chief on any person, the confirmation of a development chief or any Chieftaincy title for that matter is the sole preserve of the paramountcy of the Fievie Traditional Council which can only be done by the King maker who is known as Togbe Ahadzi Dodo.

8. That the said Avudzegah Sogah who is an ex-convict and a native of Battor / Sokpoe Blifem, is parading with a gazette notification, purporting that he has been gazetted as Chief of Sogakope.

9. That the Fievie Traditional Council is aware of this gazette notification, which for all intents and purposes is a fraudulent document and the Traditional Council, is taking the appropriate steps to deal with.

10. That the Fievie Traditional Council welcomes the sod cutting ceremony but respectfully pray that the Vice President should not get himself involved in any act which have the potential of fueling chieftaincy dispute in the Fievie Traditional Area.

11. That we strongly advise the Vice President not to accept any invitation to attend any ceremony to confirm any title on him since such act will not be done with the blessing of the Fievie Traditional Council.
